"The Dragon Team Fully Assembled! Son Goku Has Come Back!!" is the one hundred and fifth episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai (the international version of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Kai) and the seventh episode of "The Final Chapters", the international branding for the series' Majin Boo arc. The episode debuted in the United States on Cartoon Network's Toonami on 18 February 2017.
Synopsis
Videl's flying lessons are progressing and she can now hover with no difficulty; Gohan compliments her on getting the hang of it and suggests that there is nothing left for him to teach her. Meanwhile Goten is zipping circles around them in the air, and Videl wants to know how many days it will take her to be able to fly that well. Gohan says he doesn't know, so Videl says she will return every day until she can. Gohan excuses himself and flies up to Goten, asking him not to show off so much when Videl is around. Goten wants to know why, but Gohan tells him it doesn't matter; he returns to the ground and tells Videl that he was giving Goten some advice.
Videl is winded and decides to take a break. She sits on the grass and asks Gohan not to tell Mister Satan about the flying lessons; she wants to surprise him at the Tenka'ichi Budōkai. Gohan agrees that is for the best. Videl adds that Satan is overprotective and would not be happy to learn she was spending so much time with a boy. She has a flashback to Satan telling her that she is not allowed to date any boy unless he is stronger than Satan himself, which she has taken to mean that she cannot date anyone at all. She thinks Gohan is "on the right track", but she still doubts he is a match for her father. Gohan laughs, asking Videl if she ever spars with her father, but she finds the notion ridiculous; her father is the Champion, after all. He doesn't even coach her anymore. Gohan thinks to himself that, as he thought, Videl hasn't realize yet that she is far stronger than her father. Gohan wonders aloud whether it would be upsetting if Satan were to lose to anyone, but Videl does not think it would be upsetting at all. She thinks he has been living it up too much, fooling around with too many women since her mother died. She would like to see him taken down a peg. Gohan is elated to learn that she would not be upset if he beat her father.
Videl is ready to get back to training. She asks Gohan who taught him martial arts; he says he was trained by a friend (Piccolo) and his late father (Goku), and some others. Videl figures his father must have been pretty strong, and Gohan agrees; just at that moment, Goten lands and informs her that their father will coming back for one day to entering the tournament. Videl is confused as to how a dead person can come back; Gohan chides Goten for revealing the secret he was asked to keep. Videl surmises that their father left the family and has secretly contacted his sons to let them know he will be attending. Gohan does not know what to say, but Videl takes the moment to commiserate on their troublesome parents. She suggests they forget about them and get back to training.
Several days later, Videl is flying easily and Gohan is proud that she has learned so much in just ten days. He tells her again that there is nothing more he can teach her, and this time, she agrees; now she can devote herself to her own training. Gohan can too. Videl says she has to be getting home; she takes out the capsule for her helicopter and then realizes that she can just fly home on her own. She takes off, telling them she will see them at the tournament. When she is out of hearing range, Goten expresses happiness that she has finally left. Gohan tells him that they can train now and they have to make up for lost time. They take to the sky to start sparring.
With the time of the tournament getting closer, everyone is focused on training. Vegeta and Trunks are training in the Gravity Room, Vegeta shadowboxing, Trunks doing pushups with one finger. Vegeta is shocked to realize Trunks is nearing his ten thousandth repetition. At God's Temple, Piccolo is meditating to focus his ki; Dende and Mister Popo seem worried that he will tear apart the temple with its force. Kuririn is shadowboxing at Kame House while No. 18 and Marron watch; Kuririn thinks that being married is sure a lot of pressure. Videl is training kicks with a punching bag while Satan's pupils watch, amazed at her dedication and strength. After she is finished, the punching bag breaks open, spilling out the sand within, and she instructs the pupils to switch it out for a new one. She goes inside the house to find her father reading a book, and she asks him whether he shouldn't be training. He says there is no need; his victory is assured. He laughs, but Videl seems annoyed.
Gohan and Goten spar in base form; as Goten gets cornered, he transforms into Super Saiyan, but Gohan soon joins him and gains the upper hand again. Goten collapses in exhaustion, complaining that he will never be able to keep up, but Gohan explains that he has been training a lot longer than Goten, but Goten is still pretty good. Goten asks whether their father is really coming to the tournament; Gohan say it will be Goten's first time meeting him and that Goten must be looking forward to it. Goten agrees.
In Heaven, Uranai Baba asks Kaiō where Goku is; it is almost time for the tournament. Kaiō tells her that Goku is on top of a nearby mountain; his training is finished and he is meditating to calm his mind.
The day of the tournament finally arrives. Bulma is flying everyone to the event, and she expresses disbelief that Goku is really coming. Gohan assures her that he will really be there. Muten Rōshi wonders how long it has been since they have seen him; he cannot wait to see Goku again. Ox-King says it has indeed been a long time, and he is happy everyone is doing so well. Chi-Chi asks Yamcha why he is not entering the tournament, and he says that he would just embarrass himself. Gohan tells Kuririn that Goku might not recognize him with his hair; Kuririn says he is probably right. Gohan suggests to the other Saiyans that they shouldn't transform during the tournament. Vegeta asks why, and Bulma reminds him that they were all on TV during the Cell Games; people will probably already recognize them from that, but the transformation would just seal the deal. Gohan adds that it would surely make the news if that happened. Vegeta says that, if that happens, he'll just destroy those people, but Gohan insists he cannot do that. Vegeta good-naturedly agrees; he says that as long as no one else transforms, it will not affect his dominance. Trunks says he has no problem with that, and Goten agrees. Gohan thanks everyone, and Kuririn notes that it is advantageous for him, too; he thinks the transformation is unfair.
Soon they arrive at the island where the tournament is to be held; several aircraft are converging on the island. Kuririn cracks his knuckles in anticipation, and Gohan prepares the final touches of his disguise. Kuririn asks Gohan whether he really intends to fight in that costume and Gohan explains that he does not want to be recognized by his schoolmates. Gohan asks if he looks good; Kuririn agrees nervously, Pu'er enthusiastically.
As everyone walks through the tournament grounds, Kuririn remarks that there are a lot of people there; Bulma finds this to be inconvenient. Yamcha wonders whether Goku has arrived yet. At that moment, there is a disturbance in the crowd; Mister Satan has appeared to give autographs, and the spectators rush toward him. Kuririn remarks with amusement that the hero who saved the world has arrived. Bulma is amazed at his popularity, but Yamcha points out that no one knows what really happened back then. Gohan thinks to himself that Videl's father has arrived.
Mister Satan emerges from his aircraft to the cheers of the crowd and thanks his fans for waiting. The crowd chants his name, and a female reporter asks him what he thinks about his chances for winning the tournament. Satan thinks his odds are about one hundred and twenty percent. A male reporter says he understands that Satan's daughter is entering the tournament as well; Videl stands by her father's side with a sour expression. The reporter asks her whether she cut her hair to show her enthusiasm; she tells him that he is bothering her and should leave her alone. Satan laughs and claims that victory is all his. Yamcha laughs and remarks that Satan has not changed; Gohan smiles and suggests they ignore him. Then he asks whether his father has arrived yet. Muten Rōshi says he does not see him anywhere.
Goten spots Piccolo nearby and calls Gohan's attention to him; Gohan approaches him and asks whether he has seen Goku. Piccolo says he has not, and asks Gohan whether he intends to enter the tournament in that costume, which Gohan confirms. Chi-Chi is worried that Goku has not arrived yet and wonders whether he might have gone to the contestant area already. Kuririn and Yamcha volunteer to go check, but at that moment, Goku arrives with Uranai Baba at his side. Kuririn and Gohan greet him and Goku observes that everyone looks different than when he last saw them. Goku asks how everyone has been, but they are overcome with emotion; Gohan is speechless with excitement and Kuririn and Chi-Chi are fighting back tears. Even Piccolo seems happy, though Goten just seems confused. Muten Rōshi welcomes Goku back; Bulma, Yamcha, and Oolong are also crying; Vegeta, Trunks and No. 18 watch impassively. Then Gohan, Yamcha, Kuririn, Oolong, and Pu'er rush to embrace Goku. Chi-Chi tells Goku she has been waiting for him; he says he missed her too.
Just then, Goku notices Goten hiding behind Chi-Chi; she tells him to come out and meet his father. Goku is shocked, though he noticed Goten looked just like him; he is amazed to find he has another child. Goten peeks out from behind Chi-Chi and addresses his father hesitantly; Goku pushes his friends aside and walks up to Chi-Chi, trying to encourage Goten to come out. After a moment, Goten runs to his father, who picks him up, propping him up on his arm so they are face-to-face. Goku says he seems spirited and strong like him. Everyone is touched to see them together at last.
Uranai Baba reminds Goku that he only has twenty-four hours; Goku says he understands, so she bids him farewell, and he thanks her. Piccolo urges everyone to hurry; they have to sign up for the tournament before it is too late. At the registration table, the monks struggle over Gohan's Great Saiyaman alias. Goku asks Gohan what that is about, so Gohan asks his father whether he thinks his name and outfit are cool; Goku nervously agrees that they are. Trunks approaches the registration table, and a monk observes that this is one for the junior division. Trunks is surprised to hear this; the other monk explains that boys aged fifteen and under are assigned to the junior division. Trunks relates the news to Goten, who is behind him; Goten is not happy to hear this news either. Bulma asks whether this is something new; she thinks the tournament is getting complicated. Trunks turns back to the table and implores the monks to let them compete with the adults, but they tell him that is out of the question because it is against the rules. Trunks says that will be no fun.
The contestants are called by megaphone to gather in the locker rooms. Chi-Chi wishes her boys good luck and tells them to go earn them some prize money. Goku is excited to let loose after so many years; Gohan can't wait to show Goku how strong he has gotten. Trunks tells Goten that he won't hold back, and Goten says he won't either. Kuririn tells Marron to wait for him; he is going to do his best in the tournament. Goten bids everyone farewell and Bulma tells them to go easy on their opponents. Oolong wishes them good luck. In the contestant area, various fighters are showing their stuff; the female reporter rushes through the crowd to interview them. She asks one fighter where he is from; he tells her he hails from Satan City where he trains at Satan Dōjō. Videl is looking around for Gohan; she spots him walking with Goku and the others. Trunks tells Goten that his dead father looks just like him. Goten says "You think so?" and turns around to look at Goku, who is talking to Kuririn. Trunks says he hears Goku was awesome, and Goten concurs, but Trunks doesn't think he looks very awesome. He thinks his father looks stronger. Goten says that Gohan told him their father was the strongest in the universe.
Goku tells Kuririn that he thought he was bald, but Kuririn says he told him a long time ago that he just shaved his head. Goku asks why he grew out his hair; Goku thinks he looked better without it. No. 18 passes by them, and Kuririn explains with embarrassment that a lot has happened since Goku last saw him. Just then, Goku notices and recognizes No. 18; he is shocked that she is there. No. 18 calls him a dummy for taking so long to notice her. Goku asks what she is doing there, and Kuririn explains that they live together at Kame House. Goku asks Kuririn if that means that they are together, and Kuririn confirms with a blush, reminding Goku that he saw their daughter earlier. Goku is even more shocked by this; No. 18 calls him a dummy again before walking away. Goku asks Kuririn how he had a child with a robot, and Kuririn tells Goku with some annoyance that she is not a robot; she started out as a human; she was only modified a little bit. Goku recovers himself and congratulates Kuririn on his family, and Kuririn thanks him.
Gohan is smiling at this exchange when Videl finds him, though she asks Gohan if it is really him, and why he is wearing that costume. He explains that he is entering as Great Saiyaman, and asks her whether she can fly like a pro yet. She says yes, and gives him a demonstration, flying away. Gohan follows her, catching up easily, which annoys Videl. She lands on a balcony where he joins her. She warns Gohan that she is not going to hold back. Gohan jokes that she is his arch-rival.
