"Super Warriors Assemble! 2" is the thirty-second chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga series written and illustrated by Toyotarō, with supervision and guidance from original Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the March 2018 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump, with a sale date of 20 January 2018.
Summary
Over in Universe 6, Cabba visits Planet Sadal at Champa's insistence to gather the best fighters, irrespective of whether they are good or bad guys. Cabba notices a vehicle drive by that should be one of their own. Two men discuss being in Caulifla's territory, but they are soldiers in Sadal's army after all. Their car comes to a sudden stop when a woman appears in front with a foot to their bumper. It is Caulifla herself, and she demands the men hand everything over to her and her three cohorts. Though one of the men wants to let it slide, the other grows frenzied and attacks Caulifla, who easily dodges the punch and slams the man into a nearby building. The bags are filled with food and jewels meant to be tributes to the King of Sadal. The attacked man pulls a gun out, which disappears just as quickly as he drew it; one of the other women with Caulifla casually holds it in a hand behind her back, and proceeds to crush it.
Caulifla and the others sort through their loot when Cabba appears at their door, using a ki blast to shoot a gun out of one of the hoodlum's hands. Cabba presumes the woman in charge is Caulifla.
Back in Universe 7, Shin wonders if the other universes have chosen their warriors yet, as Bulma walks by to find he and Whis conversing. It is late at night, but Whis has no need for sleep, and Shin is still worrying over this selection process.
Cabba is clearly making little progress with Caulifla, as seen by his flying through the air following an attack. Caulifla has no interest in joining the tournament, unless Cabba can somehow force her to… but she has yet to meet a single other Saiyan who can defeat her. Cabba transforms into a Super Saiyan and quickly moves behind Caulifla, who is unable to keep up with Cabba's attacks now. Cabba references the transformation by name and how the Saiyans in Universe 7 can all do this, further confusing Caulifla. Following an extended series of attacks, Cabba stops short of delivering a final blow to Caulifla, instead extending his hand to show one of the stolen jewels. Caulifla's cohorts watch on as Cabba demands its return and further explains their sticky situation, promising to teach her how to transform if Caulifla joins them in the tournament. Cabba requests some water, and in the meantime, somehow one of Caulifla's cohorts has stolen the jewel back again from Cabba without his noticing.
Beerus wakes up at Capsule Corporation to find Kuririn there, who states that the Turtle Hermit will also be joining them. Kuririn mentions prize money, which confuses Vegeta. When Goku returns, Kuririn reads him the riot act for lying about the true stakes, but ultimately agrees to still fight. They still need one additional teammate, though! Beerus notes that everyone they have chosen is from Earth, no thanks in part to Freeza and his army being wiped out. Goku suddenly has a bright idea: they should bring Freeza back from the dead to fight with them! They do not have time to gather the Dragon Balls, but they could just have the Fortuneteller Crone bring him back for the day. Vegeta questions Goku's desperation, assuming they would be able to win with their team as it stands already. Goku admits that he already lost to someone in Universe 11, however, and that they seem to have someone even stronger than that on their side. Whis explains that he does not really make it his business to know about warriors in other universes, but it is possible that some warriors could be participating that no-one has never seen before.
In Universe 6, Cabba travels off with Caulifla, who has apparently already mastered the new Super Saiyan transformation. Cabba has also asked one of Caulifla's cohorts, Kale, to tag along as they need all the help they can get. Caulifla admits that Kale is promising, but still has a ways to go.
Kuririn concedes that they may indeed need Freeza, and even Vegeta is willing to go along with the plan. Beerus comments on how low they have fallen to be recruiting dead people, though Whis sees it as a unique move and posits they should wait and see if it is a smart move after all.
Down in Freeza's own personal hell, the tyrant awakens from a flashback of his loss against Vegeta and Goku to a scene of parading fairies… and Goku himself standing before him. Goku offers Freeza a chance to get out for 24 hours, but Freeza can tell there is more to this offer.
The next morning, Goku has still not arrived back with Freeza. The others have all gathered: Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Kuririn, No. 18, No. 17, Tenshinhan, and the Turtle Hermit. Vegeta comments on Gohan's growth, and assures No. 17 that his island is in good hands with Trunks. Tenshinhan assumes that Goku is off getting Yamcha, and if it comes down to it, he will go get Chiaotzu himself. Just then, the Fortuneteller Crone blips in with Goku and Freeza in tow, each looking rather ragged; Goku apparently had to do some persuading. Piccolo throws them each a senzu, as it is time to leave. Freeza has gotten even stronger, using his time to image-train and preparing to murder them all, but Beerus says he will stop Freeza himself if it comes down to it. Whis wonders how Goku managed to convince Freeza in the end, but apparently all it took was a promise of resurrection should their universe survive!
Beerus and Whis gather everyone up in a circle, holding hands, explaining that this is a battle royale and they need to all get along for once. Whis contacts the Great Priest and announces their readiness. Bulma bids everyone farewell, and the group departs for the Tournament of Power.

Continuity
The events of the manga and the anime diverge significantly. Below are the main differences, along with the episodes where the events of this chapter occur or contrast.
- Caulifla’s introduction is extremely different in the two versions of the story:
- In the anime, Cabba knows Caulifla through a former captain of his, Renso, who is her older brother. Cabba tries to convince Renso to join the Tournament of Power, but he refuses due to his crippled leg. He then suggests that Cabba recruit his sister Caulifla instead. Cabba then goes to her gang’s hideout and convinces her to join the Universe 6 team by both promising to teach her how to transform into a Super Saiyan and by insinuating that she is wasting her talents as a mere gang leader.
- In the manga, however, Cabba was on the lookout for possible recruits for the Universe 6 team in Planet Sadal when he just happened to pass by Caulifla’s turf and got a chance to witness her strength first-hand through her regular actions as the leader of a criminal gang. After Cabba follows her to her hideout and asks her to join the Universe 6 team, Caulifla beats him up, saying that she will only listen to him if he can defeat her – and she has yet to meet a Saiyan who can. Cabba then immediately transforms into a Super Saiyan and defeats her. Caulifla’s tone towards him changes significantly afterwards and she promises to enter the tournament. She also asks him to teach her how to transform into a Super Saiyan.
- Caulifla’s gang is also significantly different in the two versions of the story. In the anime, it is mostly composed of men, with Kale being the only exception, and we are never shown what their regular activities are. In the manga, however, we do see what her gang (which is composed entirely of women in this version) does on a day-to-day basis: Caulifla runs an extortion ring, stealing from everyone that passes through her turf. She then shares the loot with the underprivileged children of the area.
- In the manga, Kale is shown to be a highly skilled thief, being able to steal anything from anyone without them noticing.
- In the anime, the Elder Kaiōshin was aware of the Tournament of Power from the very beginning, even being present for the Zen Exhibition Matches. In the manga, however, Shin only informs him of the tournament after Boo had already fallen asleep – that is to say, very close to the scheduled departure time for the World of Void.
- In the anime, the final team meeting for the tournament takes place just outside Capsule Corporation, at nighttime. In the manga, however, it takes place inside Capsule Corporation, during the day.
- In the manga, Vegeta is the one who tells Kuririn that there is no prize money involved. In the anime, however, it is Piccolo.
- In the manga, after he finds out that Goku’s been lying to him about the cash prize, Kuririn decides to enter the tournament anyway after Goku pleads with him to participate. In the anime, however, he only does so after Beerus threatens to destroy him if he refuses to enter (though it seemed like he was going to forgive Goku and participate anyway).
- After the very brief recap included in Chapter 5, this chapter includes a more substantial synopsis (along with some flashbacks) of the events of the Resurrection “F” arc, which is completely absent from the manga. There is even a complete recreation of the scene where Goku kills Freeza.
- The manga and the anime provide different bits of information regarding Freeza’s afterlife: the anime specifies that Freeza is stuck in Hell because he is unrepentant, so he cannot cross over. The manga, instead, specifies that the flowery garden is Freeza’s own, personal Hell.
- In the manga, Goku has a stronger reason for wanting to recruit Freeza: since he lost to Toppo in the Zen Exhibition match and Toppo told him that Jiren is even stronger than he is, stronger even than Universe 11’s God of Destruction, Goku feels like they need all the strong allies they can get. In the anime, however, his battle with Toppo was never satisfactorily concluded, so when everybody seems to be against the idea of recruiting Freeza, Goku asks Whis if they have a chance of winning. Whis responds that there are rumors of a universe with a mortal even stronger than their own God of Destruction, and that that God of Destruction is even stronger than Beerus (who immediately retorts that he just lost to him once at arm wrestling). It is this information that makes the others realize that, despite the obvious risks, Freeza might indeed be needed. In Episode 110, Whis takes Jiren's strength as proof of the rumors he heard, implying that Vermoud was the God of Destruction who beat Beerus at arm-wrestling.
- In the manga, Caulifla’s first Super Saiyan transformation is achieved off-screen. In the anime, however, we can see the moment when Cabba taught her how to bring about the transformation.
- In the anime, Kale achieves her first Super Saiyan transformation shortly after Caulifla achieves her own. This is what prompts Cabba to also make her join the Universe 6 team. In the manga, however, she never transforms before the tournament itself, with Cabba justifying her recruitment by merely stating that they need all the warriors they can get.
- The manga depicts Freeza in Hell with the angels, fairies and stuffed toy parades first shown in Resurrection 'F'. In the anime, however, Freeza’s Hell is completely deserted apart from himself.
- In the manga, Goten and Trunks protect the wildlife reserve that No. 17 is responsible for while he is away at the tournament. In the anime, Marron is also at the reserve with the two of them.

- The recruitment of several of the Universe 7 team members is expanded upon in the anime:
- Gohan was one of the first to know about the tournament and was also part of the team that fought in the Zen Exhibition match. Unlike what happens in the manga, his participation was never put into question and he himself assumes he will be participating in the main event from the very start.
- Kuririn does a practice match against Gohan (where he unveils his 100-times Taiyō-Ken), and later, another one against Goku. In both battles, he shows that his strength is not physical prowess, but instead, thinking outside the box, which he can use to defeat opponents much stronger than himself.
- Goku checks up on Boo once before meeting up with No. 17 and notices that he has been training so hard that he lost weight (he is back to normal by the time he falls asleep, though).
- Goku visits Tenshinhan at his newly-formed dojo. At first, Tenshinhan refuses to participate in the tournament, saying that he could not just leave his students alone at the dojo, but after those same students destroyed several buildings of the nearby town (due to having fallen under a spell cast by a resentful former pupil of the Crane Hermit), he decides to participate in order to win the ten million zenni that Goku promised him and reconstruct the buildings his students destroyed.
- The Turtle Hermit was also present during this incident. When he hears that there is a ten million zenni cash prize involved, he immediately decides to participate as well.
- The anime shows the actual negotiations between Goku and Freeza in Hell. The manga only mentions them.
- When Goku brings Freeza from Hell, they are attacked by a group of assassins from Universe 9. Freeza stalls Goku with Destruction energy stolen from one of the assassins (which was in turn given to him by Sidra) and then proceeds to kill them all. After being saved by Beerus, Goku challenges Freeza to a mini-battle: first one to land a blow wins. If Goku wins, Freeza drops the animosity and becomes a true ally of Universe 7. If Freeza wins, however, he gets to do as he pleases. The bout ends in a draw, with both landing a blow on the other at the same time.

- In the manga, Gohan uses a dougi similar to that of Piccolo’s. In the anime, however, he uses one similar to Goku’s.
- In the anime, fearing that he might be at a disadvantage against female warriors, the Turtle Hermit performs special training to overcome his overactive libido by asking Pu'er to transform into a beautiful girl and then trying to resist his… most basic instincts. The training does seemingly succeed… until he fights Caway in the actual tournament and all of his newfound strength of character disappears in a flash.
- In the manga, Freeza does not specify which set of Dragon Balls will be used to revive him should Universe 7 win. In the anime, however, he does: he requests that he be revived with the Earth’s Dragon Balls considering that there is no guarantee that, even if Universe 7 wins, he will be the last warrior standing, and therefore, the one that gets to make a wish to the Super Dragon Balls.
- The manga, however, does at least imply that it will be the Earth Dragon Balls, since Freeza does not specifically mention the Super Dragon Balls given to the winner of the tournament.
- In the anime, Vegeta is strongly against being in a circle, hand-in-hand with Freeza. Beerus gets around this by being the one to join hands with Freeza instead. In the manga, however, it is Freeza who objects to holding hands (with anyone, really). In this version as well, Beerus steps in, threatening to destroy Freeza’s very soul if he does not comply.
Notes
- Kuririn and No. 18 (and in the anime, Tenshinhan and the Turtle Hermit as well) should have immediately suspected that an inter-universe Tournament would offer prize money in a currency from Earth.
- Goku probably does not know about this and was entirely truthful when he made the promise to revive Freeza with the Earth Dragon Balls, but since Freeza had already been revived with that specific set of Dragon Balls, it would be impossible for them to revive him yet again. He would have to either win the tournament and make his wish to the Super Dragon Balls or go to New Namek instead.
