Synopsis
Blowing stupendous ki on the arena, Goku and Cell confront each other! Seeing their explosive power, Kuririn and the others are overwhelmed. The two clash once again. Having Tenshinhan's cells as well, Cell attacks Goku with the Shishin no Ken. But as Goku faces the four Cells with a time-lag attack, Cell unleashes one of Freeza's techniques! As Cell then fires an even more powerful Kamehameha, Goku flies into the air so that he will be targeted and the Earth spared, then counterattacks with the Shunkan-Idō!!
Summary
Part A
Son Goku continues to power up as Cell looks on, smirking. All of the spectators marvel at Goku's incredible strength. Eventually, Goku unleashes a shockwave which sends Mister Satan and his gang flying. Once the dust clears, Cell powers up and unleashes a similar but even more powerful shockwave, sending Mister Satan's gang flying once again and even pushing back Kuririn and Piccolo. Cell is now also surrounded by a golden aura. Mister Satan continues to explain that Cell and Goku are using tricks and while Pizza still believes him, Karoni and Pirozhki seem to have caught on that their powers are real. Cell asks Goku, "Now?", and Goku agrees, landing several powerful blows and sending Cell careening into the sky. He bleeds just a bit from a cut in his mouth, but he stays smiling. Cell explains that he loves a battle where the opponents are evenly matched and Goku agrees. They resume fighting, each landing blow after blow on the other. In a lull in the battle, Cell laughs at Goku before using the Shishin no Ken, Tenshinhan's multiform technique. Goku suddenly has four opponents!
Part B
Seeing four copies of Cell, the reporter asked Mister Satan for an explanation, but he has none. Goku teases Cell for using a finishing move already, but Cell just laughs and positions one of his clones on each of the four corners of the ring. Goku tells him that it will not work on him, but Cell charges in anyway and the pair spar in a five-way battle. Yamcha reminds his friends that using that technique cuts your power in half, but Tenshinhan reveals that Cell has mastered that technique even more than he has; he can detect no difference in Cell's speed and power. Cell returns to the four corners, this time firing a four-way Makankosappo, Piccolo's technique, at Goku. He dodges and they resume their fight in the air. Once there, Goku turns the tables on Cell and is able to smash all four of Cell's forms into the ground, forcing them to combine once again. Cell lays prone in the center of the ring. As the team celebrates, Vegeta scolds them for missing the obvious: Cell's ki has not dropped at all. His ruse revealed, Cell fires a Kienzan, Kuririn's technique, at Goku. He dodges, but it slices apart a nearby mountain instead. Cell is not only using Kuririn's Kienzan technique, but he is able to control the discs like Sōkidan, effectively merging two of his opponents' techniques.
On Kaio's planet, Kaio tells Bubbles and Gregory that it is neither of those techniques, instead it was Freeza's version of a spinning disc technique from Namek. He curses Dr. Gero for creating this monster!
At the battle, the discs continue to follow Goku but he stays ahead of them easily, despite Cell's careful control. He says that the part of him that is Freeza knows that Goku is about to trick him by coming up behind, so he lobs another disc in that direction and slices the unexpecting Goku in half... except that Goku was just an afterimage. Cell says that he expected that as well, and slices apart the real Goku... except that one was an afterimage as well. Goku seems to stay one step ahead of Cell's planning. Goku, standing placidly behind Cell, tells him that he will not win if he only uses other people's techniques. It will take more than "borrowed knowledge" to win. Cell disagrees and powers up a giant Kamehameha, powerful enough to destroy the Earth. Goku flies up and forces Cell to direct it away from the planet, Just as it is about to hit him, Goku teleports behind Cell. The blast escapes into space and Goku gets the jump on the unsuspecting attacker. Cell is surprised and recalls that Goku used that technique once before. Goku asks him if he would have destroyed the Earth with his blast and Cell replies that he does not know, but he knew that Goku would have jumped to prevent it. Still, he claims, he has no compunction against destroying the planet if necessary. Cell seems to disappear again, only to reappear behind Goku with incredible speed.
