The Village Headman is a fictional character in the Japanese animated series Dragon Ball GT. The Village Headman makes his debut in episode 7, which debuted on Fuji TV on 20 March 1996, as a resident of Planet Calvo.

Biography

The Village Headman oversees the small village near the foot of Mount Calvo. The village is terrorized by the amphibious creature Zunama, who claims to be able to cause earthquakes by wiggling his whiskers. After years of threats, Zunama finally demands that the village provide him with a wife, so the Headman arranges for his daughter Leine to play this role. However, before she can be given away, Trunks, Pan, Goku, and Giru arrive on Planet Calvo in search of one of the Ultimate Dragon Balls, which they find woven into Leine's hair. The Headman explains their situation, and Trunks is outraged that he would do something so barbaric as offer his daughter to Zunama, but they offer to deal with the Zunama problem in exchange for the Dragon Ball, and Leine's fiancé Doma joins their quest.[1] At Mount Calvo, they discover that Zunama does not have the power to cause earthquakes; he can only predict them. Mount Calvo erupts, and Goku destroys it. Then the villagers decide to allow Zunama to live with them, since he seems to regret his actions.[2]

Performance

The Village Headman is voiced by Eiji Maruyama, who also voiced Yuzukar in Dragon Ball Z. The Headman is uncredited in the Funimation English dub.
