Rumoosh is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Rumoosh makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the God of Destruction of Universe 10.
Biography
Rumoosh is a relatively lazy God of Destruction who doesn't like to destroy planets because he finds it to be too much trouble. He likes people who fawn over him for being a God of Destruction.[2]
Tournament of Power
Rumoosh learns that the participation of his universe in the Tournament of Power is required when he attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Kusu and Gowasu, the Angel and Kaiōshin of Universe 10. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[3]
Name
Rumoosh is likely derived from "rum" (ラム酒/ramushu), a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts. The character name writes the 酒 (しゅ/shu, meaning "alcohol" or "liquor") in katakana, drops its syllable modification, and adds a vowel elongation. This pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[4]
Performance
Rumoosh is voiced by Yasuhiko Kawazu, who played several minor roles in Dragon Ball Z. Kawazu also voiced Mister Popo in Dragon Ball Kai and in the Tournament of Power, he gives his voice to Zarbuto of Universe Two. In the Funimation dub, Rumoosh is voiced by Oliver Tull in his first role for the Dragon Ball franchise.
