The two look promising, so the Turtle Hermit gives them some training before dinner. It's a great trial, where he throws a stone with the "turtle" character drawn onto it into the jungle and then tells the two of them to go find it! The one who is unable to do so will go without dinner! Goku and Kuririn take this severe training seriously!! Through some underhanded methods, Kuririn seizes victory in this contest![1]
Summary
Prologue
Muten Rōshi capsulizes Kame House so that they can take it with them to their new location. Goku asks him how they will get there, since Kinto'un will not work, so the old man takes out a boat capsule and tosses it in the water, where a motorized raft appears. After they climb in, he says "Let's go!", and they take off through the water to their destination. He asks Lunch if she could please refrain from sneezing while they are in the boat, and she promises to try. The narrator explains her split personality, with a flashback to the scene from the end of the previous episode where she transforms into blonde Lunch in the lingerie "uniform"; Kuririn and Goku brought her to Kame House as a payment for their training which calls for a move to a larger island.
Part A
The Turtle Hermit's boat pulls up to the destination, a fair-sized volcanic island. He detonates the Kame House capsule and suggests some light training before dinner, and Kuririn thanks him for this suggestion. Muten Rōshi notices that Goku has disappeared, so Lunch explains that he went off on Kinto'un to check out the rest of the island. On his travels, Goku sees houses, a volcanic vent, a lake, and a house on a giant rock formation. Upon his return, he informs the old man that there are a lot of other houses on the island, so Muten Rōshi tells him that there are indeed more than three hundred residents on the island, and tells him to come down for training. Goku is excited, while Kuririn plots to become the number one student.

Lunch asks if she should participate in this training, since the old man had used this pretense to get her to wear his lingerie "uniform", but he tells her she can do whatever she likes, so decides to work on preparing dinner. Then she yawns, and for a moment, everyone fears she is going to sneeze, so they all run to hide behind a rock, terrified. When the yawn passes, she tells them she is going inside to work on dinner now, and wishes them good luck. Goku is relieved that she was only yawning; Kuririn admits she scared him and Muten Rōshi, still behind the rock, tells Kuririn he will never fully be a man if he gets scared over little things like that. Kuririn bows and apologizes to his master.
Muten Rōshi begins their training by asking Kuririn about his experience with martial arts. Kuririn tells him he studied at the Ōrin Temple for eight years. Rōshi concludes that they should both be safely past the fundamentals, so he decides to test them. He points to a tree, telling them that it is exactly 100 meters from the rock they were hiding behind; he wants to see how many seconds it will take them to run that distance. Kuririn contemplates this question, and Rōshi explains that while being a fast runner will not make them a better martial artist, it will gauge the strength of their legs. Kuririn volunteers to go first, and Rōshi remarks on his confidence. Kuririn looks sidelong at Goku and promises to show them the kind of feet that could make the Olympics.[2]

Muten Rōshi waits at the tree with a stopwatch. He raises his hand and tells Kuririn to get ready, so Kuririn prepares his Olympic-runner stance. Goku is very impressed. Rōshi drops his hand as he starts the stopwatch and Kuririn takes off, reaching the tree in 10.4 seconds, which his master thinks is excellent time. Kuririn brags that his personal best is 10.1 seconds, and concedes that 10.4 is about right for these conditions, laughing. Goku calls out loudly for the old man, asking him if he can run too, and Rōshi enthusiastically agrees, raising his hand while Kuririn critiques Goku's stance. The hand is dropped, and Goku takes off. As he runs, he notices something is wrong, but he reaches the tree in just over 11 seconds. Muten Rōshi says that is pretty good, but not good enough to keep up with Kuririn, who regrets that Goku had the bad fortune to be paired with him, though he concedes that the kid is pretty good. Muten Rōshi agrees; they both have pretty good legs.

Meanwhile, Goku has been inspecting his shoes. He approaches the old man and asks if he can change shoes and run again. Kuririn smugly assumes that Goku is trying to blame his loss on his shoes; he shows Goku his own shoes, which he says are not made for track either, but Goku tells Kuririn his shoes are all busted up, and he demonstrates, wiggling his toes. Goku comes back with new shoes, which he thinks are a lot better, and he tells the old man he is ready to go. Muten Rōshi raises his hand, Goku takes his mark, and the hand drops. Goku makes the tree in 8.5 seconds, while Kuririn falls over in shock. Goku asks Kuririn if that is fast, and Kuririn asks him what kind of training he has been doing. Goku tells him that he has been running around in the mountains.
Muten Rōshi compliments both of them, but he tells them they are still on a "human level", and in order to become complete martial artists, they must go beyond human levels, which is the hard part. He takes off his turtle shell and sets it aside, handing the stopwatch to Kuririn and telling him to measure his time. Kuririn is surprised that his master is going to run, too, but he says he has not been getting enough exercise lately, so Kuririn and Goku run to the rock with the stopwatch, asking the old man if he is ready. He tells them to wait a moment. Then he picks up the turtle shell and throws it at the rock so that he does not have to go back for it. The shell destroys the rock, and then the old man says he is ready. Kuririn raises his hand, while his master just stands in a relaxed position. Kuririn drops his hand, and Muten Rōshi speeds past them so fast, Goku's hair gets tossed. He immediately marvels at the speed of the old man, who has come to an abrupt stop just past them. He asks Kuririn how many seconds, and Kuririn tells him 5.6 seconds, which Rōshi finds to be not too bad and about right.

Goku is excited that his teacher really is far beyond him, and Muten Rōshi tells them that with their youth, they will be able to break five seconds themselves eventually. But it has been a while since he has done any running, and now he is thirsty. He asks Goku to run inside and get him a beer, but Goku does not know what that is, so Kuririn volunteers to get one instead. After he is gone, Rōshi tells Goku that part of being a great martial artist is knowledge, and he is going to need some special training in that area. Meanwhile Kuririn runs to the house, excited that his master really is worth his reputation, and not just a dirty old man. Kuririn announces his mission as he enters the house, and Lunch praises his valiance, but then she sneezes. Goku and Rōshi both hear it, and then Kuririn comes running out the house while Lunch pursues him with a chef's knife. Muten Rōshi (behind some bushes with Goku) observes that Kuririn made the 100-meter dash in 8.8 seconds this time, very close to human limits! Lunch continues to chase Kuririn, threatening to cut him to pieces. In the distance, she sneezes again, and dark-haired Lunch wonders what she is doing out there, while Kuririn seems to have narrowly escaped castration. He passes out in relief.
Part B

As the sun sets, Muten Rōshi decides to give his students one more task before they indulge in the delicious dinner that Lunch is preparing for them. They will put off the hard training until tomorrow, but in the meantime, he has another test for them. Goku asks if they will run again, but the old man has something else in mind; he picks up a rock, taking a marker out of his pocket and drawing 亀 (kame, or "turtle") on it. He tells them to take a good look, and then Goku and Kuririn ask him what he is going to do with it, so he throws the rock as far as he can, over a cliff and deep into the forest area below. He is satisfied with his range, and Kuririn wonders if he wants to see how far they can throw rocks, a prospect that seems to mystify Goku, but he tells them that the test is not throwing rocks; it is finding rocks! This will test their mental strength and concentration, and their physical strength as well. Whoever finds the rock first winds, and the loser will go without supper. If they take longer than half an hour, neither of them will eat.
Muten Rōshi laughs and wonders which one of them will find it, so they both go running. They run to the edge of the cliff, and Kuririn notes that there are no natural formations for climbing down and they will have to go around, but then Goku just jumps over the edge, leaving Kuririn standing at the edge. Goku explains as he falls that he does this all the time in the mountains and it is no big deal. He catches a tree branch on the way down, but it breaks, and he takes a hard fall, but this does not delay him for long; he jumps up and takes off to earn his supper. He calls out for the rock, while Kuririn wonders whether Goku is human. He takes off to catch up, but then he gets an idea. While Goku searches in earnest, Kuririn finds a rock of about the right size. Then he goes to one of the locals' houses and knocks on the door, announcing himself. A lady answers the door, and he asks if he can borrow a sign-pen.

In the forest below, Goku sniffs around and picks up the old man's scent. He figures the rock must be nearby. Meanwhile, Kuririn uses the local woman's sign-pen to write 亀 on his rock. He thanks her and runs off, and she thinks he is a strange little monk. Kuririn makes his plans; he will have to put on a good act to make it look like it took a lot of effort to find the rock. Inside Kame House, Lunch chops food for dinner and the old man fixates on the motions of her hips as she works. He asks her what she is making, and she tells him it is pot stew using a delicious-looking fish at the market earlier. He tells her he is looking forward to it as he inches forward, looking forward to grabbing her hips. Just before he gets two handfuls, Kuririn bursts in the door, calling out to Muten Rōshi. Lunch turns around quickly, nearly stabbing the old man with her knife.
Muten Rōshi is peeved. Lunch apologizes, but he laughs it off and turns his attention to Kuririn, who presents the rock he "found". Rōshi seems pleased, but then he takes a closer look at the rock. After a moment, he throws the rock at Kuririn's head and chastises him for trying to fool him. That is not his handwriting. Kuririn apologizes as he runs out the door. Down in the forest, Kuririn laments that he has to actually find the thing, an impossible task. He is suddenly attacked by a saber-toothed tiger, but after his initial shock, he is able to defeat the beast quickly. Then a giant dinosaur approaches, and Kuririn hides behind a tree.
Just then, Goku shouts that he has found the rock. Kuririn runs to find him, and Goku holds up the rock, celebrating that he can eat supper. Kuririn compliments his skills, and Goku explains that it smelled like the old man. Kuririn asks if he is a dog, then suggests that they cannot be sure that is the real rock. Goku protests that the character the old man wrote is right there, but Kuririn tells him that it might be a copy; he was fooled by one himself earlier! He asks Goku for the rock so he can take a closer look. Goku hands it over, and Kuririn takes off running. Goku chases after him, but Kuririn tells him that it is a competitive world, and them's the breaks. Goku chases him over a bridge crossing a ravine, and Kuririn cuts the ropes at the last minute, causing Goku to fall into the river far below.

Kuririn runs away, celebrating his victory, but Goku is still right behind him. Kuririn decides to halt and face the music: they will settle it with a fight! Goku was hoping for this outcome. Kuririn warns him he might regret this later; he just defeated a saber-toothed tiger with his bare hands, after all. Goku tells Kuririn he beats those up in the mountains all the time. Angry, Kuririn attacks, and after a brief, furious scuffle, Goku pins him, giving him the opportunity to concede. Kuririn concedes, and Goku says if he gives up, he should hand over the rock. Kuririn compliments his strength, digging in his shirt for the rock. He acts like he is going to hand it over, and then he tosses it in the jungle, forcing Goku to chase after it again. Kuririn is pleased with himself; that was the fake rock, and he still has the real one.
Inside Kame House, the Kame Sen'nin is watching his aerobics video again while Lunch sets the table. When she walks by, the old man thinks that this is his chance to grab something. He makes his approach, and just then, Kuririn runs in the door. The old man is annoyed, but Kuririn proudly presents the real rock, and Muten Rōshi acknowledges him as the winner. They sit down to dinner, complimenting Lunch on her cooking. Kuririn serves sake to his master while Goku drools in the corner, his stomach growling. Rōshi asks Lunch what kind of fish this is, and she tells them it is puffer fish (河豚 fugu). Kuririn chokes, and the old man freezes. Kuririn drops his chopsticks as his stomach begins to churn, and his face turns blue. The old man drops his sake and falls to the floor, his face also turning blue. Lunch does not feel well either, and soon they are all retching.
Bright and early, Goku emerges from Kame House to greet the day. He asks the old man to hurry up and pick up where they left off the day before, but Rōshi wants to take the day off. Goku's training will continue, but it will just have to wait one more day!
