Synopsis

The Tenka'ichi Budōkai announcer comes out to tell the crowd that it is time for the fourth match; a monk interrupts him to have him relay the news that Videl's injuries are not life-threatening; her fans cheer. The announcer tries to begin the fourth match again, but then Gohan interrupts him to ask him to wait one minute for Goku to bring senzu, which Gohan describes as a "mystical medicine". The announcer relays this to the crowd as well.

The announcer confers with the monks as Gohan returns to the contestant area to wait for his father. Shin is the first to sense that Goku is coming, then Piccolo and Vegeta. Gohan asks Goku if he managed to get any senzu; Goku says that Karin has not been growing them recently, but he had three beans on hand. Gohan takes all three senzu; Kibito approaches him to start their match, but Gohan asks him to wait just a moment while he takes care of Videl. Goku thinks that Kibito is no ordinary guy; he thinks of Shin as "impenetrable", but that Piccolo was somehow able to sense that Shin was out of his league. Vegeta thinks that it does not matter who these people are; he has been waiting for the chance to fight Goku again for a long time.

Trunks asks Goten what Goku brought back; he thinks it looks to be some kind of medicine for Videl, who got beat up really bad. Goten said she was really good, though. Trunks says he wishes they would hurry; they are supposed to be in the seventh match; he is tired of waiting. Goten, who is carrying Trunks on his shoulders, thinks that he is the one who is really getting tired.

Videl starts to regain consciousness and sees Mister Satan by her bedside; he is happy to see her coming around. Just then, Gohan runs through the crowd of reporters; he knocks and asks to be let in, but he does not wait for an answer, opening the door. Gohan tells Videl he has what she needs; Satan tells him that Videl needs peace and quiet and that no one said he could come in. Gohan excuses himself and says he is in a hurry, knocking aside Satan, who is getting angry.

Videl tries to talk to Gohan, but he stops her, asking her to trust him and take the bean. The doctor objects to his patient being given strange medicine; Satan tells Gohan this is no time to be giving her candy. Gohan tells Videl that she will feel better immediately; Satan objects but Videl says she will take it; she is sure that, coming from Gohan, it will be something wondrous, which Gohan confirms. Satan protests, telling Videl not to listen; he enlists the doctor for support, but Gohan ignores them both, putting the bean in Videl's mouth. Satan bes her to spit it out, but after she has chewed up the bean, Gohan tells her they are waiting on him and leaves in a hurry, running through the crowd of reporters. Satan runs after him, promising to take it out on him later, but then he returns to Videl as she swallows the bean and finds herself fully cured, much to the shock of Satan and the doctor.

The announcer thanks the crowd for waiting, introducing Kibito and Great Saiyaman. Erasa thinks that Saiyaman looks familiar; their classmate is looking with binoculars and thinks it might be Gohan; he has the same haircut. Shapner is incredulous and asks to use the binoculars; he recognizes Gohan as well, and cannot believe that Gohan is Great Saiyaman. Erasa cannot believe it either; she thinks that maybe he is just using the name as a disguise, but Shapner asks why he would need to do that. Erasa theorizes that he is bashful; Shapner doubts whether he is any good at combat sports, but they decide to cheer for him anyway. They call his name and wish him luck; Gohan cringes when he hears his name and turns to see them cheering in the stands. His classmate shouts that though he might not be able to win the tournament, he should at least win one match. Gohan realizes his cover is busted, so he takes off his sunglasses, the last vestige of his disguise, thinking that they must have recognized him because his head scarf had come off. He regrets going to so much trouble for his disguise. Erasa says he looks better without his sunglasses.

The announcer asks if they are ready, and tells them to begin the match. Gohan adopts a fighting stance, but he is still worried about what effect it will have on his schooling if everyone finds out how strong he really is; even Bulma has told him this would be a problem. Facing Kibito, Gohan realizes that thi sis not the kind of guy he can beat with tricks. Kibito tells him to transform into a Super Saiyan; he wants to see if Gohan's strength will be of use to them should the situation require it. Gohan asks how he knows about Super Saiyan, and what he means about help. Kibito tells him that he will learn soon enough; right now he needs to see what a Super Saiyan can do. On the sidelines, Shin says it has begun. Gohan does not think he should turn Super Saiyan in front of all these people. Kuririn asks Goku what they are talking about; Goku says that Kibito asked Gohan to turn into a Super Saiyan. Piccolo looks back at Shin to find him concentrating intensely.

In another location, Spopovitch and Yamu are watching their energy meter; Yamu asks Spopovitch if these are the guys, but Spopovitch says their energy is too low. Piccolo calls out to Gohan and indicates that he should do what Kibito asks. Goku asks Piccolo what is going on; he says he does not know, but... Shin walks up then and explains that he has to make use of Gohan, for which he apologizes. He tells them that, no matter what happens with Gohan, they should not move for a few minutes. Kuririn and Goku are confused. Vegeta says he will not take orders from someone he does not know and demands that Shin identify himself. Piccolo tells them that he is the Kaiōshin who stands above the Kaiō. Everyone is shocked; Goku says that he has heared about him from North Kaiō.

The crowd is starting to get impatient as Kibito and Gohan just stand there; the announcer reminds them that their match has started. Chi-Chi yells at the crowd to be patient; they are about to see something amazing and they should pay attention. (Z 218)

Kibito tells Gohan to transform now; Gohan decides he has no choice; he will have to quit school. Kuririn asks Shin what is going to happen when Gohan transforms; Shin tells him that Yamu and Spopovitch will probably try to attack him. Shin reminds them to do nothing when this happens; Kuririn says that they would have no reason to do that because Gohan can take care of them, but Shin seems skeptical, so Goku asks him if he thinks Gohan will lose to them. Shin tells them it will be alright; they do not want to kill him; they merely want to take his energy. Goku asks what he means; just then, Videl rishes to the privacy screen to see what is going on. Gohan tells Kibito he will transform for him, though he does not understand why Kibito wants him to do it. He asks Kibito if he would like for him to go to the second level; Kibito asks what he means, and Gohan demonstrates, transforming to Super Saiyan 2.

As Gohan powers up, Yamu and Spopovitch watch closely with their meter until the sight of the transformation itself diverts their attention; the entire ring is torn apart and then all the tiles fall back into place. Videl cannot believe her eyes; Spopovitch's meter is going crazy; Yamu knows this is the person they were looking for. Gohan asks Kibito what he wants to do now that he has transformed; should they fight like this? Kibito is overwhelmed by Gohan's power; he did not think someone from the lower realms could have this kind of power. Vegeta is not impressed; Gohan is not nearly as powerful as he was when he fought Cell; he slacked off on training during the years of peace. Shin says that nevertheless, his power is even greater than they expected; Shin is not sure if he will be able to stop him. Goku asks what he means; Kuririn looks to Piccolo to see if he is worried about this, but Piccolo shakes his head.

Erasa has realized now that Gohan is also the Golden Warrior; Shapner and their classmate have realized it too. Others in the crowd remember that there were guys who could transform like that at the Cell Games. Chi-Chi gloats to the crowd; Gohan is giving them the show she promised, and she says there is even more spectacle to come. Gohan asks Kibito what is wrong and invites him to attack. Meanwhile, Yamu and Spopovitch prepare to attack themselves. Yamu tells Spopovitch to hold Gohan while he uses a puncturing tank to steal his energy. Gohan sees them coming for him and asks what they want; Shin restrains Gohan's power while Spopovitch holds him down and Yamu takes his energy. Goku asks what is going on; Shin begs him to trust him. Kuririn cannot help himself and tries to intervene, but Piccolo holds him back while Shin sharply reminds him not to interfere. Spopovitch says they will kill anyone who tries. Kibito watches, telling himself to be patient. Chi-Chi tries to walk over the crowd to get to Gohan; she asks Goku why he is just standing there. Videl tries to go to Gohan too, but Goku holds her back. Videl demands he let her go or Gohan will be killed; Goku assures her that Gohan will not die so easily. Videl asks him why this is happening; Shin tells her to be quiet and watch.

Goten thinks that Gohan will be killed; Trunks wonders why his father and the others are not doing anything; Goten tries to go save Gohan but he and Trunks lose coordination and nearly fall over. Spopovitch and Yamu finish extracting Gohan's energy; Gohan falls to the ground and Spopovitch says this was easier than he expected. He and Yamu fly away. Shin tells the others not to go to Gohan; Kibito will restore his energy soon. Goku asks what is going on; Shin says he is going to follow Yamu and Spopovitch discreetly; he asks if Goku and the others will come with him, saying it would be helpful, but he does not wait for an answer. Shapner watches him fly away; he and Erasa wonder what just happened; Chi-Chi is still distressed. Kuririn asks Goku what they should do; Goku says that he will go with Shin since he said Gohan is going to be okay; he wants to know what is going on. Yamu tells Spopovitch as they fly away that this energy will help resurrect the Majin and that Bobbidi will be pleased. (Z 219)
