Nigrissi is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Nigrissi makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 92, broadcast on 28 May 2017 on Fuji TV, as a modified warrior of Universe 3.
Biography
Nigrissi is a remodeled warrior with a trademark "~Guri" expression. In the Tournament of Power, he was dropped out of the ring by Cabba's blow.[1]
Tournament of Power
As Universe 3's greatest modified warrior, Nigrissi is responsible for retrofitting warriors for the Tournament of Power. He presents Narirama to Mosco and Ea, demonstrating his skills, including his Super Survival Mode. He then claims that other warriors are also being retrofitted for the tournament, and there are brief glimpses of Biarra, Catopesra, Boraleta, an unidentified warrior (perhaps Maji-Kayo), The Priccio, and Paparoni. Nigrissi promises that Universe 3 will be the universe to survive, and Mosco beeps happily.[2]
Nigrissi is next seen when the Great Priest transports the Universe 3 team to the World of Void.[3]
Name
Nigrissi's name is likely an anagram of Grissini (グリッシーニ): long, thin, Italian-style breadsticks native to Turin in the foothills of the Italian Alps. The character name is a rearrangement of the katakana used to write "grissini" in Japanese with the vowel elongation dropped from the "shi" syllable.[4]
Performance
Nigrissi is voiced by Daisuke Kishio, best known as the voice of Cabba. In the Tournament of Power, Kishio also gives his voice to Liquir, the God of Destruction of Universe 8; Boraleta, also of Universe 3, and Methiop of Universe 10. In the FUNimation dub, Nigrissi is voiced by Jon Allen in his first role for the franchise.
