Methiop is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Methiop makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 90, broadcast on 14 May 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Universe 10 team.

Biography

Methiop specializes in a boxing style and unleashes punches and jabs with agile footwork. In the Tournament of Power, he is blown out of the ring by berserk Kale's ki blast.

Tournament of Power

Methiop is recruited for the Tournament of Power by Rumoosh, the God of Destruction of Universe 10. As the leader of the team, Mulithim introduces the otherwise-hooded members including Methiop to his Kaiōshin Gowasu, demonstrating their dedication to a regular protein intake in order to build strength.

The Angel Kusu leads the team in a dance to foster team unity, while Gowasu records. He plans to upload it as a video entitled "Us Dancing" on GodTube, and hopes it will get a lot of views.

The team is next seen when they are transported to the World of Void by the Great Priest. After the tournament begins, Methiop, his teammate Murisam, and Shosa of Universe 4 all get knocked flying by the Universe 3 fighter Narirama's spinning technique, called "Super Survival Mode".

Methiop later gets into a confrontation with Kale of Universe 6. She gets in one good punch on Methiop, but he traps her fist in his shrimp-like mouth. Then Napapa appears behind her, and she accidentally steps on his foot. He complains that she hurt him, grabbing her up by the hair. Laughing, he tells her she will become a human punching bag. Methiop obliges, punching Kale while Napapa holds her immobile. She eventually loses consciousness, so Napapa kicks her aside.

Caulifla catches Kale, telling her to rest. She confronts Napapa and Methiop for daring to make her protegée cry. Napapa says they will make her cry too, so she gets angry and transforms into a Super Saiyan, warning them not to underestimate her. She punches Methiop repeatedly before knocking him aside and proceeding to eliminate Napapa. When Kale goes on her berserker rampage, Methiop is blown out of the arena.

On the sidelines, Methiop and the other eliminated male members of the Universe 10 team are enthused by the transformations of Universe 2's Maiden Squadron.

After the elimination of Obni, Universe 10 is erased. When No. 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all of the destroyed universes, Methiop is seen with his teammates and Gowasu in the Kaiōshin realm of Universe 10.

Name

Methiop's name is likely derived from the element Promethium (プロメチウム), a radioactive lanthanide with the atomic number 61. This pun follows the theme of Universe 10 warriors being named after elements of the periodic table.

In Dragon Ball Super Episode 90, the Universe 10 team appears hooded, with the exception of Mulithim. They remain hooded in Episode 91, suggesting that their designs had not yet been finalized when animation began on these episodes.

Performance

Methiop is voiced by Daisuke Nishio, best known as the voice of Cabba. In the FUNimation dub, Methiop is voiced by Shawn Gann, who also voices Biarra of Universe 3.
