Mosco is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Mosco makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the God of Destruction of Universe Three. Mosco is a mech operated by a small horned man named Mule.

Biography

Mosco is a robot-like God of Destruction who has surpassed mortal intelligence. It is said that, because he is an old robot and cannot speak, he communicates his intentions with electronic sound translated by his Angel Campari.[2][3] Even Ea, the Kaiōshin of Universe Three, is surprised to learn that Mosco is controlled by Mule.

Tournament of Power

Mosco learns that the participation of his universe in the Tournament of Power is required when he attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Campari and Ea, the Angel and Kaiōshin of Universe Three. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[4]

Name

Mosco's name is taken from Moscow Mule (モスコ・ミュール/Mosuko Myūru), a cocktail served in a copper mug and made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. This pun was deduced by fans long before the reveal of Mule,[1] who is only named in the credits of Dragon Ball Super Episode 121, because the name pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[5]

Performance

Mosco is not credited with a voice actor until the reveal of Mule in Dragon Ball Super Episode 121; Mosco's robotic sounds were electronically produced. Mule is voiced by Daisuke Kishio, best known as the voice of Cabba. Kishio also voices Jheese in Dragon Ball Kai, and in the Tournament of Power, he also gives his voice to Liquir and Boraleta.
