"Hit vs Jiren" is the thirty-fifth chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga series written and illustrated by Toyotarō, with supervision and guidance from original Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama. It was published in Japan in the June 2018 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump, with a sale date of 21 April 2018.
Summary
Five minutes have passed in the Tournament of Power, and 43 minutes remain. The Gods of Destruction of the exempt universes are stunned after the erasure of Universe 9; Iwen of Universe 1 is grateful that they were excluded. Giin of Universe 12 asks how the fighters from the other universes are faring, and Arak of Universe 5 observes that each remaining universe has lost two or three fighters so far, except for Universe 11. Liquir of Universe 8 finds this incredible, but Iwen points out that they have Jiren. Giin figures the (unspecified) rumors must be true, and that Universe 11 should be favored to win.
Meanwhile, Goku fights as a Super Saiyan against Universe 11's #2 and #3 guys, Toppo and Dispo. Dispo admits to Toppo that he underestimated Goku, but Toppo warns him that Goku still has more transformations, and Dispo gets angry that Goku is underestimating them. Goku says he just wants to fight the strongest guys at the tournament, but Dispo begins using his super speed against Goku, warning him that he is not good enough to fight Jiren and suggesting he should go ahead and transform. Goku fires a Kamehameha, but Dispo dodges it and lands a kick, while Toppo comes in for the combination attack, punching Goku into the arena floor. Goku worries that he is going to run out of steam before he gets the chance to fight Jiren.
Elsewhere, Jiren has just landed a blow on Hit of Universe 6, who falls unconscious to the ground. Goku notices and transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, breaking free of Toppo and rushing to the scene, demanding Jiren fight him. Jiren stops Goku without touching him, just by holding up his hand, and Goku lands near Hit, who is recovering from Jiren's last attack. Goku asks Hit if his Time-Skip technique did not work on Jiren, and Hit confirms that it did not. Goku figures they will just have to beat him with good old hand-to-hand combat. Toppo and Dispo arrive to assist Jiren, but he tells them to stay out of it; he will defeat these two alone.
Goku teleports behind Jiren with a punch, but Jiren blocks it, along with all his subsequent attacks. Kuririn asks Whis if Goku might have another transformation, but Whis does not think so; "perfected" Super Saiyan Blue is Goku's strongest form. Goku tries a Kamehameha, but Jiren takes it head-on with no damage. In the stands, Beerus looks over at Vermoud and Markarita, who are having a good laugh. Jiren punches Goku toward the edge of the ring; Goku tries to rebound but Jiren punches him back to the edge again. Goku gets up, and Jiren punches him over the edge. As he climbs back up, Jiren tells him he should have picked an opponent more on his level. Jiren bids farewell to the "nameless warrior of Universe 7"; Goku tells Jiren that his name is Son Goku, and just before Jiren's next punch lands, Hit arrives to kick him aside, telling Goku that he can consider his debt from the last tournament to be repaid.
Goku asks Hit how he stopped Jiren with a normal kick and whether he found a way to fight without using Time-Skip. Hit explains that ever since Goku figured out how to get around Time-Skip, he has given up relying on it, honing his strength instead. Hit attacks Jiren again, and Champa and Goku are impressed with his strength and speed, but Jiren easily kicks Hit away. Goku attacks again, and Hit joins them, but Jiren is able to handle both of them with no effort. They regroup, and Hit tells Goku he might have to use his other special technique, but he will need to be at full power. Hit tells Goku that once he uses it, they will need to hit him with everything they have, but Goku does not like the sound of this, so he powers down and tells Hit to count him out. He wants to beat Jiren alone. Hit reminds him that he was unable to beat Jiren at full strength, but Goku says he needs to overcome another wall, or they will not have a chance in this tournament. Hit thinks he sounds confident, but Goku says he just does not have any other choice. Hit tells him to stand back and watch, then; after he takes down Jiren, Goku is next. The Universe 7 observers are disappointed at this turn of events, but Whis thinks it is a bad habit of the Saiyans.
Hit powers up, and Jiren attacks, but before his punch lands, Hit performs Time Lag, which causes time to move faster for Jiren alone, slowing down his movements from the perspective of everyone else. Jiren is unable to land any attacks, but Hit is able to attack Jiren. Champa and Vados are also impressed at this turn of events, but Hit can only keep it up for so long. He pushes Jiren toward the edge of the arena, but at the last minute, Goku realizes that Jiren has been holding back. He shouts out to Hit to warn him, but it is too late; Jiren punches Hit up into the air, and then he falls outside of the arena. Champa is distressed when he appears in the stands, and Vermoud mocks him for thinking that kind of technique would be enough to beat Jiren. Back in the arena, Jiren is impressed that Goku figured it out, complimenting him on his perceptiveness. Goku is just happy that Jiren finally remembered his name.
Interstitial Page

The interstitial page following this chapter in the seventh collected volume showcases the Universe 6 team participating in the Tournament of Power, its Kaiōshin, its God of Destruction and its Angel.
Continuity
The events of the manga and the anime diverge significantly. Below are the main differences, along with the episodes where the events of this chapter occur or contrast.
- In the manga, Goku and Hit briefly team up against Jiren in a joint effort to bring him down… that is, until Goku realizes that he wants to beat Jiren with his own strength. Hit then continues the fight alone. In the anime, however, Goku never joined in on the fight (due to still being drained from his use of Ultra Instinct in the previous episode), so Hit fought Jiren completely by himself from the start.
- In the anime, Hit forces Jiren into a Time Prison (時間の牢獄, jikan no rōgoku), where Jiren should have been completely unable to move. Jiren, however, is so strong that he slowly breaks through the prison until he is completely free from it. In the manga, however, Hit’s technique is a bit different. He calls it Time Lag (時ずらし, toki zurashi), which slows down time for the victim, making everyone else seem extremely fast by comparison. But just like Time-Skip, Time Lag has no real effect on Jiren. He pretends to be unable to respond to Hit's quick attacks and lets himself be driven to the edge of the stage (to preserve his strength) and then lets loose for just enough time to make Hit fall to his swift defeat.
Notes

- After Hit saves Goku from being knocked off the stage by Jiren, he says that they are now even. But Hit is forgetting that he lost to Monaka on purpose during the God of Destruction Invitational Tournament, so he and Goku were already even.
- In this chapter, Hit’s lower body looks about the same as it does in the anime. In Chapter 12, however, Hit seemed to be bare-legged.
