Dyspo is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Dyspo makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 85, broadcast on 09 April 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Pride Troopers of Universe 11.

Biography

Dyspo is the raid-commanding officer of the Pride Troopers. A super-fast warrior, he is able to instantaneously increase his movement speed thousands-fold.[2]

Tournament of Power

Dispo's anime character design for the Tournament of Power[2]

Shortly after the Zen Exhibition Match, Dispo responds to a distress signal from Planet Dardon, which is under attack by a space monster. The Dorakiyans have decided to claim Planet Dardon. One of their number is using the monster Araghne to terrorize the planet. Dispo fights them alone, and the Dorakiyan controlling Araghne says he wants to destroy the Pride Troopers, too. Dispo is eventually captured by Araghne, and just as he is about to be eaten, he is rescued by his fellow Pride Troopers Toppo and Casserale. The three of them introduce themselves formally with special poses and proclaim that they will now defeat evil.

Toppo attacks Araghne with kicks and then with Justice Flash. Casserale and Dispo team up with kicks and a Double Cannon Maximum, disabling Araghne. The Dorakiyan cannot believe Araghne was defeated, but then Toppo appears behind him, telling him that they have zero tolerance for his actions, picks him up and tosses him into Araghne's gaping maw. Toppo destroys them both with fire and proclaims that as long as the Pride Troopers around, the light of freedom will never disappear.

On the flight home, Toppo tells Dispo and Casserale about the Tournament of Power and its consequences, and both are sobered by the news. Toppo tells them he wants to summon Pride Troopers from other planets, and Dispo says they will need Jiren for this. Toppo agrees, and says that Jiren is currently training.[3]

Later, Dispo eats hors d'œuvres in the Pride Trooper jazz lounge while Toppo taps his finger impatiently. Dispo wants to know where Casserale is; Toppo has been trying to call him but has not been getting an answer. He uses his wristwatch to tell Casserale again that he is issuing an emergency order to return. Casserale is trying to save a cat that is trapped on a pipe near a live electrical wire, while two small children look at him hopefully. He tells Toppo that he has an important duty he must complete before he can return. Dispo reminds him that the fate of the universe is at stake, but Casserale says that if he cannot save the life in front of him, he cannot save the universe either. He then ends the call, and Dispo cannot believe he hung up on them, but Toppo is sure Casserale has his reasons.[4]

Name

Dyspo's name is likely derived from the katakana rendering of "disposal" (ディスポーザー/disupōzā), used specifically to refer to a food disposal system attached to the drain of a kitchen sink. This name pun follows the theme of the Pride Troopers being named after items found in a kitchen.

Performance

Dyspo is voiced by Bin Shimada, best known as the voice of Broli. In the Funimation dub, Dyspo is voiced by Christopher Dontrell Piper in his first role for the Dragon Ball franchise.
