Summary

Vegeta and Iriko land on Planet Yardrat, and they are greeted by a number of Yardratians at a landing pad in a city. Iriko tells Vegeta he has never encountered Yardratians before, and Vegeta says he has heard they come in multiple types. And indeed, a group of another type is on its way up the ramp, asking the group of the first type to move aside.[a] This second group of Yardratians greets the newcomers. One of them offers a hand to Iriko, assuming it is Vegeta; he says he heard a lot about him from Goku, and that he looks quite simple for a Saiyan. Iriko informs him that his companion is Vegeta.

Iriko and Vegeta are escorted into the city by this group of Yardratians, and the leader tells Vegeta that the Ginyu Force caused some real problems on their planet before Goku defeated them; Vegeta remembers hearing that they had attacked here. The Yardratian tells him that they are eternally grateful to him and Goku for taking care of them. Vegeta says they are welcome, and asks who taught Goku teleportation. Was it one of them? The Yardratian seems confused, and then he realizes the problem. All of the other Yardratians in his group disappear, and he clarifies that he is alone. Iriko asks where the others went, and the Yardratian explains that since they are a weak race, they sometimes make copies of themselves to seem less vulnerable. He then invites Vegeta in to meet Pybara, a giant Yardratian with a slightly different appearance.[b]

Pybara announces that he was the one who taught Goku how to teleport. He reaches out to shake Iriko's hand, telling him he looks simple for a Saiyan. Iriko again clarifies that his companion is Vegeta. They tell their story off-screen, and then Pybara says he thinks he understands; they want to beat this Moro guy. Vegeta asks if they have a technique that might be helpful, and Pybara says there has been a misunderstanding; they are not blessed with some great wealth of techniques. They only study one thing, and all of their abilities arise from this single technique: Spirit Control. The other Yardratian explains that what they call spirit, Goku called ki, and Vegeta knows what that is. Then the Yardratians demonstrate: teleportation, duplication, and gigantification are all made possible by the shifting, splitting, and growing the spirit, and everyone on Yardrat can do these things. Pybara tells Vegeta that if he studies how the spirit functions, the path will open to him. Then Vegeta asks Pybara to teach him this Spirit Control.

A few days after Vegeta lands on Yardrat, Goku and Merusu depart Galactic Patrol Headquarters to train on another planet. Merusu tells the Galactic Patrol agents that he will be away for a while, but they can contact him if they need anything. Jaco assures him they will handle things while he is gone. With nothing going on, time passes unproductively at headquarters. The escaped convicts invade Planet Rich and Planet Tip, and they are running low on personnel, especially with Goku, Vegeta, and Merusu gone. The Galactic King suggests they recruit new agents, and asks Jaco about the sector he manages. Jaco does not think much of his prospects, but the Galactic King suggests the other warrior from the match against Universe 6. Jaco thinks he means Monaka; annoyed, the Galactic King clarifies he is talking about the Namekian.

On Earth, Piccolo meditates atop God's Temple. He is frustrated that he cannot reach anyone on New Namek. Dende suggests it is simply the limits of their telepathy, but Piccolo worries that all of the Namekians capable of telepathy are dead. Dende is shocked, but Piccolo is certain that there is something terrible happening out in space. Just then, the Macareni Gang pulls up to Earth; Pastar thinks it is pretty, and Ghetti hopes it has plenty of Blue Aurum. As they find a place to land, Piccolo notices their presence. Dende asks if they might have something to do with this nasty business out in space. Piccolo is not sure, but he will go check it out. Dende warns him to be safe, but Piccolo assures him before taking off that their ki signatures are weak.

The Macareni Gang lands in a deserted area, but Penne is surprised to see that someone is waiting for them. Pastar wonders what this guy wants, and Ghetti thinks maybe he saw them flying in. Pastar tells Penne to blast him, so she fires, hitting Piccolo dead on. Pastar compliments her aim, but when the dust clears, Piccolo is gone. Pastar wonders where he went, and then Ghetti points to the top of their ship. Piccolo tells them that it is rude to shoot without asking questions, and Pastar wonders who this guy is.

Back at God's Temple, Dende can see for himself that these guys are not big threats, but then a ship arrives at the temple. It is Bulma and Mister Satan, who is holding Bra. Dende asks what brings them here, and Bulma says she is looking for Piccolo; she just got a call from Jaco, who wants to draft Piccolo into the Galactic Patrol. Dende asks her if they are battling someone at this time, but she does not know and suggests they ask Jaco directly, pulling out a contraption for that purpose.

On the surface, Ghetti attacks with his electric rope, but Piccolo dodges him effortlessly. Pastar uses his telekinesis to explode some rocks around Piccolo, but this has no effect. Penne attacks with her extendable arms, but she only manages to grab Piccolo's cloak, while Piccolo's own extendable arms grab her and Ghetti. Unfortunately for them, he is well accustomed to that technique. He throws them up at Pastar, who wonders how this planet came to be home to such powerful beings.

On God's Temple, Jaco informs everyone that Planet Namek is completely dead, and that this tragedy is playing out all over the galaxy. Mister Popo comforts Dende as he grieves for his fellow Namekians. Bulma asks if Jaco is trying to recruit Piccolo since Goku and Vegeta are off training, and he tells her that is right; also, he could use Goku's son, and maybe the "baldies" too. Bulma assumes he means Kuririn and Tenshinhan. Then Jaco tells her to be on alert; Moro has sent a lot of scouts out across the galaxy to find planets for Moro to eat, and while Earthlings might be weaklings, the variety of lifeforms would make a nice treat for Moro. Dende asks Jaco how they would recognize these scouts, and Jaco says they would be in groups of two or three in a long, thin spaceship. Dende realizes they already have some.

Back on the surface, the Macareni Gang is all tied up. Piccolo asks them who they are and whether they are connected to what is happening out in space. Pastar feigns ignorance, telling Piccolo they are just passing through. He apologizes for being so quick on the draw. Ghetti uses telepathy to ask Pastar if they are really going to just slink off, but Pastar says Moro will really want this planet when they send word, and that will be their chance to take the Blue Aurum. Ghetti is grateful for Pastar's quick wits. Piccolo decides they are not the source of the great disturbance and sets them free, telling them to never come back. Pastar thanks him, and they take off.

Meanwhile, Bulma is rushing to the site in her spaceship, and she sees the ship taking off. Dende yells at Piccolo telepathically not to let them get away, explaining they are allied with the people causing trouble in outer space. In the ship, Penne sees the new arrivals, and Pastar suggests she hurry. Piccolo shoots them down; he goes to the wreckage, displeased that they tried to trick him. Ghetti informs him that he was too late; they already sent word to the main force. Pastar says it is only a matter of time before the convicts pay them a visit, not to mention Moro, who will gulp this whole planet down.

On Saganbo's ship, he tells Moro that they just got a message from the Macareni Gang saying "Help us," and then they got cut off. Saganbo asks what they should do, and Moro suggests that if they were killed, the planet must be host to strong beings. He suggests they send a stronger scouting party to verify; if it is indeed quality planet, he will want to eat it.

On an unidentified planet, Goku and Merusu train. Moro uses a thin staff as a weapon and easily holds the edge on Goku in their spar. After being knocked down, Goku is frustrated that this is not working. He needs to empty his heart and mind for the technique to work, but his emotions are all over the place when he is fighting. Merusu tells him it is not that simple, and attacks again; strong emotions like rage, grief, and joy can translate into power, like his Super Saiyan transformation, but Ultra Instinct is different; it activates when he achieves self-control in the face of a shock to his emotions. Goku smiles, realizing Merusu knew about Ultra Instinct all along. Merusu apologizes for keeping this secret from him, but Goku says there is no need to apologize; he is sure there was a good reason. Merusu says there is. Goku says this is good enough for him; he knows Merusu is a good guy and wants to beat Moro just as much as he does, so they should get back to training; they do not have much time.

Merusu tells Goku that any doubts he had are gone now, and asks Goku to follow him. He leads Goku to a pyramid-like building surrounded by four pillars, and opens the door. Inside, it looks like the Room of Spirit and Time; Goku says he knows all about this place. Merusu says that every day that passes in the outside world gives them three days in here. Goku is disappointed that it is only three days, but he realizes that every extra day counts. Merusu says that while the time dilation is helpful, the main advantage is that this place is sealed off from the world, and he can use his full power without being detected. Goku is pleased that they do not have to hold back in here. Merusu asks him if he is ready, but Goku is more than ready.

Notes

Teleportation Service (left) and Yardrat Transportation (right) Yardratians as they appear in Dragon Ball Online.
  1. The Yardratians that Vegeta and Iriko encounter upon landing are modeled after the type seen in Dragon Ball Z anime original content,[1] later used as the basis for Jimizu's design in the Tournament of Power.[2][3] The next two types they encounter are based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Online game designs.[4]
  2. There are two types of Yardratians used in Dragon Ball Online. The one who meets Iriko and Vegeta at the landing pad, later identified as Hatsuka, is a Yardrat Transportation type, while Pybara is a Teleportation Service type.
