A press release from Toei regarding the wide Japanese theatrical release for Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” reveals that the film will make its way to 74 countries, beginning with Taiwan and Hong Kong 01 May 2015.

Hotly anticipated throughout the universe, the new film Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F’ opened April 18th! On that date, an opening day meet-and-great was held at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo, featuring Masako Nozawa (voice of Son Goku, Son Gohan), Ryō Horikawa (voice of Vegeta), Masaharu Satō (voice of Kame-Sen’nin), Natsuki Hanae (voice of Jaco), director Tadayoshi Yamamuro, and Momoiro Clover Z (who sing the main theme “Vow of ‘Z” and also voice guest characters).

When asked her impressions on the Los Angeles premiere held a few days ago, Nozawa seems to have sensed the enthusiasm there: “It felt great to drive up in a limousine and walk on a red carpet. Even the staff there said there had never been a gathering like that before, and it makes me glad to think that Goku and friends are spreading their wings throughout the world’.

Also on the 18th, it was announced that the film would be shown in 74 countries and regions throughout the world, starting with Taiwan and Hong Kong on Friday, May 1st! Dragon Ball is globally beloved, in America, France, Italy, Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Egypt, South Korea, and more, and now it’s spreading its wings out from Japan to the world!

On hearing this announcement, Nozawa commented “If it’s come to 74 (regions and countries), why not go to even more! (laughs) I’m happy and excited!’ Horikawa likewise expressed his delight: “It’s undoubtedly a great achievement! Wonderful. It reminds me just how loved this series is throughout the world. I’m bursting with happiness.’

At the mention of his disciples’ worldwide success, voice of Kame-Sen’nin Masaharu said that “It’s incredible that these cute disciples of mine have all spread throughout the world… I’m so happy…” and the auditorium broke out in applause. Meanwhile, Hanae resolved that “Jaco deserves more global recognition, so I’ll do my best to make him as beloved throughout the world as the others!’

The story for Revival of “F”, which opened nationwide in Japan 18 April 2015 in 2D and IMAX 3D, was crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he wrote it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it would, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, served as the film’s director and animation supervisor. Norihito Sumitomo has returned from Battle of Gods and the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai for musical composition duties. Momoiro Clover Z contributed “Vow of ‘Z'” as the film’s main theme alongside Maximum the Hormone, whose “F” is used during the film. Revival of “F” brings back Freeza and includes two new characters (Sorbet and Tagoma), features Beerus and Whis again from Battle of Gods, and much more.

Okay, that’s pretty cool, Toei, but… saying which countries the movie will open in would have come in handy…

I’d wager that Toei is leaving it up to the appropriate companies in those countries to make their own announcements. Although I admit, it would have been nice if they’d thrown up a nice global map with markers for the countries getting the movie.
