Earlier this month, the 2013 #42 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan revealed the previously-hinted-at bonus downloadable game coming packaged with first-pressings of J Legend Retsuden on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS: Dragon Ball Z: Gekishin Furīza!! (“The Fierce God Freeza”), the fifth game for the franchise on the Nintendo Famicom, and the sequel to Assault!! The Saiyans. The downloadable game has also since been revealed on the compilation’s official website.
In “Tenka’ichi Budōkai mode”, entering seven play-throughs worth of passwords obtained by beating the previous game will allow you to make your way through Gekishin Furīza!! with that same power already unleashed.
This brings the total package of Dragon Ball games to four, with this extra downloadable title being in addition to the three games that come on the physical 3DS cartridge itself.
Also included, as a part of the actual compilation, will be the first Yū Yū Hakusho game on the Super Famicom from 1993. Four Yū Yū Hakusho games were eventually released on the Super Famicom.
A trailer from this year’s Tokyo Game Show showcases all of the currently-announced games for the compilation, as well as bonus features like saving, borders, hints, and manuals:
J Legend Retsuden is due out 07 November 2013 for ¥4,980. The game is available for pre-order from Amazon Japan and Play-Asia, the latter of which is currently offering free shipping on the game. As always, we must note that the Nintendo 3DS is indeed region-locked, so players looking to pick it up will still need a Japanese Nintendo 3DS.
