“Battle of Gods” Second Weekend Figures Updates

The new film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods continued to prove successful into its second weekend, with its 9-day total attendance standing at 1,488,518 and gross revenue at ¥1,772,955,800 (passing the halfway mark to Toei’s target of ¥3 billion). The audience demographic holds steady with parents and children, older fans from back during the series’ original run, and young women in their teens to early 20s.

    The figures will obviously change day by day (even hour by hour). We will continue to update when significant milestones are passed (such as the second weekend figures in this post), but we will not be posting new numbers each day just for the sake of posting new numbers.

    I’m not sure what Box Office Mojo is basing its numbers on. It kind of looks to me that they input all their numbers in US dollars (converted from yen at an older exchange rate, slightly more favorable to Japan), then convert that back to yen using a more up-to-date exchange rate if you select “local currency”. Unfortunately, the yen is in free-fall right now, so the yen totals are rendered as artificially high…
