Angels are dispatched by the Omni-King to serve as guides to the Gods of Destruction.[2][3] If an Angel's God of Destruction dies without a replacement, the Angel will cease to function.[4] The Angels are all children of the Great Priest,[5] who serves as a guide to the Omni-King himself. Their names are all derived from alcoholic beverages.[6]
Awamo serves as a guide to Iwen of Universe 1. His high level grants extraordinary sensory capabilities.[7] Awamo's name is likely derived from Awamori (泡盛), a distilled alcoholic beverage made from long grain indica rice and unique to Okinawa, Japan.
Souwa serves as a guide to Helles of Universe 2. He has an intellectual personality and is not good at working out, unlike Peru.[8] Souwa's name is likely derived from Sour (サワー/sawā), a mixed drink cocktail containing a base liquor, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener.
Camparri serves as a guide to Mosco of Universe 3. He understands the electronic sounds of Mosco and can interpret them.[9] Camparri's name is likely derived from Campari (カンパリ/Kanpari), an Italian alcoholic liqueur obtained from the infusion of herbs and fruit in alcohol and water.
Conic serves as a guide to Quitela of Universe 4. Talented and insightful, Conic is like a watchdog for Universe 4.[10] His name is likely derived from "cognac" (コニャック/konyakku), a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac, France.
Kucatail serves as a guide to Arak of Universe 5. An angel of the female type,[11] she watches over her excellent Kaiōshin and God of Destruction and tries to learn from their knowledge.[12] Kucatail's name is likely derived from "cocktail" (カクテル/kakuteru), a beverage that contains two or more ingredients where at least one of those ingredients contains alcohol.
Vados serves as a guide to Champa of Universe 6. Her name is likely derived from Calvados (カルヴァドス), an apple brandy from the Normandy region in France.
Whis serves as a guide to Beerus of Universe 7. Whis's name is derived from "whiskey" (ウイスキー), a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash and aged in wooden casks, generally made of charred white oak.[13]
Korn serves as a guide to Liquiir of Universe 8. He is a very assertive angel who is not shy about sharing his high opinion of himself.[14] Korn's name comes from Korn (コルン/Korun), a German colorless distilled beverage produced from fermented cereal grain seed.
Mohito serves as a guide to Sidra of Universe 9. He is a knowledgeable genius-type who looks at things dispassionately.[15] Exasperated by his loser Kaiōshin and loser God of Destruction, he turns a blind eye to their violent exchanges.[16] Mohito's name is likely derived from Mojito (モヒート/Mohiito), a Cuban cocktail that consists of white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint.
Kusu serves as a guide to Rumoosh of Universe 10. She is the oldest child of the Great Priest.[5] An innocent angel who looks like a young girl despite her age, she is enchanted by the sharp muscular condition of the representative warriors for Universe 10.[17] She is always advising Rumoosh and Gowasu on the difference between good and evil, but clashes between good and evil get her blood racing despite herself.[18] Kusu's name is likely derived from Kūsu (くうす/Kūsu). When Awamori, a distilled beverage unique to Okinawa, is aged for three years or more, it is called kūsu (古酒; "old liquor"), often written in katakana (クース) or in kanji with the appropriate furigana. This pronunciation is unique to Awamori and Okinawa; elsewhere in Japan, the word 古酒 is pronounced koshu and refers to aged sake.
Toyotarō appeared on JUMPolice in November 2017, and a tour of his office included an unused design for an angel named Makkora.[2][19]
Markarita serves as a guide to Vermoud of Universe 11. She always gives candid advice to her Kaiōshin and God of Destruction, who are insufficiently strict.[20] She is characterized by her use of the odd expression "desumasu".[21] Markarita's name is likely derived from "margarita" (マルガリータ/marugariita), a cocktail consisting of tequila, triple sec, and lime or lemon juice, often served with salt or sugar on the rim of the glass.
Martine serves as a guide to Giin of Universe 12. She doesn't have to do much compared to other universes thanks to her excellent Kaiōshin and God of Destruction. She is thinking of trying to lift those two up even higher.[22] Martine's name is likely derived from "martini" (マティーニ/matiini), a cocktail made with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twist.
↑The line identifying Kucatail as a "female type" was added to her bio some time after the universe profiles first went live, as one can see from comparing the translations by Herms and Kagari. Since it was never corrected, and we have no real evidence to the contrary, we see no reason to assume it is a mistake.
