Martine is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Martine makes her debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the Angel of Universe 12.
Biography
Martine doesn't have to do much compared to other universes thanks to her excellent Kaiōshin and God of Destruction. She is thinking of trying to lift those two up even higher.[2]
Tournament of Power
Martine attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Giin and Ag, the God of Destruction and Kaiōshin of Universe 12, where they learn that their universe is exempt from the Tournament of Power. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[3]
Name
Martine's name is likely derived from "martini" (マティーニ/matiini), a cocktail made with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twist. The character name replaces the last katakana syllable. This name pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[4]
Performance
Martine has yet to speak on screen and has never been assigned a voice actor.
