Kucatail is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Kucatail makes her debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the Angel of Universe 5.

Biography

Kucatail is an angel of the female type[2] who watches over her excellent Kaiōshin and God of Destruction and tries to learn from their knowledge.[3]

Tournament of Power

Kucatail attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Arak and Ogma, the God of Destruction and Kaiōshin of Universe 5, where they learn that their universe is exempt from the Tournament of Power. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[4]

Name

Kucatail's name is likely derived from "cocktail" (カクテル/kakuteru), a beverage that contains two or more ingredients where at least one of those ingredients contains alcohol. The character name is a rearrangement of the katakana used to write "cocktail" in Japanese. This name pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[5]

Performance

Kucatail has yet to speak on screen and has never been assigned a voice actor.

  2. The line identifying Kucatail as a "female type" was added to her bio some time after the universe profiles first went live, as one can see from comparing the translations by Herms and Kagari. Since it was never corrected, and we have no real evidence to the contrary, we see no reason to assume it is a mistake.
