Episode #0146 of the podcast is available for download! We took a look through volume nineteen of the manga this week (that’s DBZ Volume 3 for all you Viz-reading folks). Goku is back, tons of people are dying, and the shizzle has hit the fizzle. In addition to the manga, we cover a good amount of news, Julian’s DBZ ABCs (learn all about the surname “Son” this episode!), September’s releases, and of course the wonderful e-mails you all send. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0146! VegettoEX, Meri, Julian, and Jeff discuss Volume 19 (DBZ Volume 3) of the manga. Death and destruction are all around, and Goku has finally returned to the battlefield. Lots of news, DBZ ABCs, September’s releases, and your e-mails round out the episode.

Episode #0145 of the podcast is available for download! We definitely made up for last week’s semi-short episode with this one. We brought on our good buddy Desire Campbell to talk about the concept of “canon” as it relates to the Dragon World. How do you actually define it, and what are the various ways you can potentially break it down, especially considering how massive of a franchise it is? We also go over some cute little video game news, Julian’s DBZ ABCs, and some great e-mails. Definitely check it out.

Episode #0145! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian bring on our buddy Desire Campbell to talk about the idea of “canon” as it relates to the Dragon World. How do you even begin to explain the concept as a whole, and what types of breakdowns can we make? Video game and manga news, September’s releases, DBZ ABCs, and your great e-mails round out the episode.

The upcoming “Dragon Ball DS” (known outside Japan as “Dragon Ball: Origins”) had its demo hit the “Minna no Nintendo Channel”, but only in Japan. It sounds like it will only be available until the 17th (the game is due out on the 18th of this month in Japan), and there is no word on a possible release of the demo for any other market.

Also, the third TV spot for the game is available for viewing over on GameTrailers.com — absolutely beautiful.

Episode #0144 of the podcast is available for download! As you’ll hear during the show, this is the episode that seemed to do everything it could to prevent itself from being recorded. While we unfortunately were unable to do a standard topic, Meri and I marched onwards with a good recap of all the recent news, all of September’s releases, and a nice little batch of e-mails. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0144! VegettoEX and Meri are plagued with recording problems all weekend, but somehow manage to pull something together! While there is no real topic to speak of, plenty of (good!) news rears its ugly head this week, and we check in with all of September’s releases and a bunch of your e-mails.

Amazon has been providing quite a bit of information recently — yesterday with the “Trilogy info”, and today with the Viz Big info! We now have releases dates going into early/mid next year, so here is a quick breakdown for you (including ones that are already out, since it gets a little confusing):

Dragon Ball:

  • Viz Big Volume 1 (tankōbon 1-3)
    03 June 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 2 (tankōbon 4-6)
    16 September 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 3 (tankōbon 7-9)
    16 December 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 4 (tankōbon 10-12)
    17 March 2009

Dragon Ball Z:

  • Viz Big Volume 1 (tankōbon 17-19)
    03 June 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 2 (tankōbon 20-22)
    19 August 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 3 (tankōbon 23-25)
    18 November 2008
  • Viz Big Volume 4 (tankōbon 26-28)
    17 February 2009
  • Viz Big Volume 5 (tankōbon 29-31)
    19 May 2009

Remember, this does not even include all that “Collector’s Edition” stuffage that starts coming out in October of this year, which appears to be single volumes as opposed to the omnibus-style “three-in-one” packaging…

Amazon has a complete listing for the upcoming “Dragon Ball Z Trilogy” three-pack on the PS2:

The set is will contain:

  • Budokai Tenkaichi
  • Budokai Tenkaichi 2
  • Super Dragon Ball Z

With “Budokai Tenkaichi 3” (“Sparking! METEOR”) being so recent, I am not entirely shocked that they did not throw it in. While we love” Super Dragon Ball Z”, it is a completely random game to toss into this pack when you consider what else it is packaged with. The first “Budokai Tenkaichi” is completely irrelevant if you have the second game (more characters, far more polished game system), so it is almost like you are really just getting only two games.

The three-pack drops 09 September 2008 for a cheap $29.99. Honestly, you are better off picking up “Super Dragon Ball Z” on its own, and then “Budokai Tenkaichi 3” on its own, as well.

Movies 3 & 4 are due out 12 September 2008, while 5 & 6 are the month after on 10 October 2008.

Episode #0143 of the podcast is available for download! Julian was finally able to join in with us for recording, and we were all very excited to check out and review Viz’s release of the first daizenshuu in English!

Ain’t that trippy to see, with both of them right next to each other? We’ve said it before, but we were pretty sure this day would simply never occur. As you’ll hear in the review, there is very little “negative” we had to say about it. We were both shockingly and gratefully impressed with the near-perfect quality of this release.

Show Description

Episode #0143! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss Viz’s fantastic release of the first daizenshuu in English (“The Complete Illustrations”). It’s a day we thought would never happen, but here we are! Even more video game news come our way, new characters for the upcoming DB short, Julian’s DBZ ABCs, and a whole lot of other good stuff rounds out the episode.
