Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

Podcast Episode #0120 — 16 March 2008

Episode #0120 of the podcast is available for download! Everything’s back together on the server, and we’re right back on schedule. This week, we’re digging ourselves an absolutely ridiculous hole by talking about DragonBall AF. While we do give a little background on where the “rumor” (can you even call it simply a “rumor” anymore, though?) came from, what we’re really discussing is a web-comic/doujinshi by a Japanese fan named Toyble.

This project takes elements from all the different rumors over the years (like the name “Xicor”, for example) and creates an all-new storyline that takes place some time after the events of DragonBall GT. We brought on Desire Campbell to discuss the project with us, since he’s (as I would describe him) the ring-leader of an English fan-translation that’s been going on! That’s right, you can read along with the story right in the comfort of your computer chair. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0120! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian bring on Desire Campbell to discuss the recent “DragonBall AF” web-comic/doujinshi. No, this doesn’t mean that “DragonBall AF” is a real series that’s somehow been covered up by an amazing conspiracy; rather, a Japanese fan has put together a new series taking elements of the rumors over the years, which is now being translated into English for your enjoyment. DBZ ABCs, some releases, and a batch of amazing e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0119 — 12 March 2008

Episode #0119 of the podcast is available for download! Holy crap, we’re back! After sorting out all of our server issues, we can finally get the site (and feed) posted with the new episode. If you check out the forums on a regular basis, you probably already caught it, but now it will be filling up all those nice little RSS aggregators, as well. This week, I finally came off the pain-killers and hastily threw together a discussion about staying home sick and the weird things you do during those times. Basically, we talked about 1999 and the FUNimation DBZ Season 3 tapes coming out. Julian’s DBZ ABCs, some releases, and a great e-mail round out the episode for everyone. Sorry it’s a little late (sorta)! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0119! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian catch up on various news and events, and then reminisce a bit about ye’ olden days, staying home from school sick, and doing strange things with the series (like writing scathing articles). March’s releases, Julian’s DBZ ABCs, and an e-mail from someone damn well convinced Trunks went SSJ2 round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0118 — 03 March 2008

Episode #0118 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry it’s a day late, but as you’ll hear in the actual episode, the internet connection here at Daizenshuu EX headquarters has been… well, it hasn’t existed much over the last week or so. Yikes. So while Julian was unfortunately thusly not able to join us for the show, we do have another amazing round in our on-going “Manga Review of Awesomeness” for you. Jeff popped in to do Volume 14 with us, which concludes the Piccolo-Daimaô arc and gets on in to the 23rd Tenka-ichi Budôkai. Good times! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0118! VegettoEX and Meri try and catch up on the news and general shenanigans from the last week, which proved to be difficult with no internet. Podcast Episode #0117 — 25 February 2008

Episode #0117 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry that we’re a date late in posting it; I’m not actually sure whose fault it is :P. This week we checked out an amazing project that’s just recently been completed:

That’s right, one of the official DragonBall “side stories”, In The Name Of Piccolo-Daimaô, has been obtained, scanned, and fully translated! The above link will take you to the website of desirecampbell, one of our forum regulars, who helped in the project. Read along and listen in for our thoughts. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0117! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss “IN THE NAME OF PICCOLO-DAIMAO”, a special side-story manga chapter collaborated upon by Koyama Takao and Maeda Minoru. Where did this come from, how can you read it, and are there any more of these? DBZ ABCs, some e-mails, Mike’s broken pop-filter, and other great things round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0116 — 17 February 2008

Episode #0116 of the podcast is available for download! We took it easy this week and gave some responses about doing stupid things with the characters and their names in response to a great e-mail. Oh, and don’t mind us completely forgetting that FUNimation’s faux-“remastered” DBZ season four and the Bardock/Trunks double-feature come out this week. Then again, no-one wrote in to remind us to mention it in the releases :P. Good times this show. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0116! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss some of the stupid things they’ve done with the DB characters and their names back in ye olden days in response to an e-mail. Tons of news (game reviews, upcoming release concerns, video games, music, etc.), Julian’s DBZ ABCs, and a slew of your e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0114 — 02 February 2008

Episode #0114 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry about the slight delay; blame Comcast. Anyway, kinoko (our resident Tenshinhan fangirl) came down to record the episode with us, since the character’s actually still relevant to the story for a little bit more. Lots of great discussions came up during our review, and I totally loved listening to it again. We also announced the winner of our 10th anniversary contest… did you win?! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Podcast Episode #0113 — 27 January 2008

Episode #0113 of the podcast is available for download! That’s right, we’re on an absolute roll with the updates this week. For this particular episode, Meri and I were all alone and checked out something rather appropriate… Trunks! We compared “TRUNKS: THE STORY” (the special one-chapter story explaining Trunks’ past) with the second DBZ TV special, which is pretty much an expanded-upon version of the same story. Lots of stuff to compare and contrast in there, most notable of which is Trunks going SSJ for the first time. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0113! VegettoEX and Meri compare “TRUNKS: THE STORY” (manga) to the second DBZ TV special. As opposed to the first TV special, the manga came first this time. How do the two differ? Is one any better than the other? Some fun with an e-mail regarding randomness and expanded character backgrounds, combined with all-around awesomeness rounds out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0112 — 20 January 2008

Episode #0112 of the podcast is available for download! Julian went incognito for another week, so we took it upon ourselves to get those subtitles working with our copy of the first DragonBall movie from the Dragon Box, invited Jeff over for a little more torture, and reviewed the movie! It’s almost like a “Manga Review of Awesomeness”, except it’s a movie. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0112! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff review a self-subtitled version of the very first DragonBall movie. Is it worth watching? Are American fans missing out on anything? Julian’s nowhere to be found, so Mike continues answering Japanese questions all on his own, and we keep plugging our 10th anniversary contest.

Podcast Episode #0111 — 13 January 2008

Episode #0111 of the podcast is available for download! Has it really been a week since the last show and general website update? Sheesh! I guess there’s not a whole lot of significant things going on in the Dragon World this month. We’ll make our own significant discussions, however, with Volume 12 in our on-going “Manga Review of Awesomeness” series! The 22nd Tenka-ichi Budôkai has come to an end, and we are introduced to our first true super-villain in the entire series, Piccolo-Daimaô. Good time! Definitely check it out.
