Ganos is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Ganos makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 93, broadcast on 04 June 2017 on Fuji TV, as spy for Universe 4.
Biography
Ganos is a warrior who has the ability to get stronger the more he fights. In the Tournament of Power, he was launched out of the ring by the Turtle Hermit's Bankoku-Bikkuri-Shō.[1]
Universe Survival Arc
Recruitment

In preparation for the Tournament of Power, Ganos is sent to spy on Universe 7 by Quitela, the God of Destruction of Universe 4. Ganos manages to eavesdrop on the conversation where Goku describes his plan to go to Hell recruit Freeza for the Universe 7 team. Ganos leaves after Goku teleports to Great King Enma and goes to report to Quitela, who is amused that Beerus and Universe 7 have had to resort to resurrecting the dead to fill their team. Ganos points out that this warrior is supposed to be very powerful, and that he might be a problem for Universe 4. Kur, the Kaiōshin of Universe 4, is dismayed that Quitela has sent spies to other universes. He worries about what will happen if the Omni-Kings find out, but Quitela tells him there is no rule against using spies. He asks Ganos for this warrior's name, and Ganos tells him it is Freeza. He also advises that they not underestimate Universe 7. Kur asks Quitela if he has a plan. Quitela marvels to himself that the Emperor of Evil is returning from Hell. He tells Kur that he has the perfect plan to deal with Universe 7.[2]
Tournament of Power
Ganos and the others from Universe 4 arrive at the World of Void just after Universe 7. He poses with his teammates when the Great Priest calls their universe; the members of Universe 7 remark that Universe 4 only has eight members, but Tenshinhan can sense something.[3] The Great Priest explains the rules and calls the beginning of the tournament. As Goku tries to attack Toppo, Ganos intercepts him and occupies him for less than a minute, until Goku gets distracted by Toppo and then Nink.[4]
Name
Ganos's name is likely derived from Oregano (マリナーラ), a cooking herb commonly found in western and southwestern Eurasia and the Mediterranean region. The character name drops the first two syllables of the katakana used to write "oregano" in Japanese, with the addition of the "su" syllable at the end.[5]
Production

Ganos is depicted with beige skin in the opening animation for the Universe Survival arc. This cut premiered on 5 February 2017 in Dragon Ball Super Episode 77; it was not included in early previews of the opening animation.
Performance
Ganos is voiced by Hiroaki Miura whose Dragon Ball roles include Zarbon in Dragon Ball Kai. In the FUNimation dub, Ganos is voiced by Brandon McInnis in his first credited role for the franchise.
