Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

This weekend marked the “closed beta” period for the upcoming Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2 video game. As we look ahead to the game’s retail release in less than a month, we brought on TeamFourStar‘s gaming aficionado Kirran to discuss how the game appears to be shaping up, changes from the first game, and our hopes for the future!

Podcast Episode #0412 — 11 September 2016

Twenty years ago this weekend, Dragon Ball Z‘s English dub debuted on American television courtesy of FUNimation. It came after a rough year’s production of the original Dragon Ball series lasting only thirteen episodes and a single movie, despite the show already seeing massive success across the entire rest of the globe. This week on our podcast, we jump back to 1996 to discuss that first dubbed episode (“The Arrival of Raditz”) and its impact on the fandom moving forward.

Podcast Episode #0411 — 07 September 2016

This week’s episode brings a split topic: a bit of glee regarding the work of Naotoshi Shida on Dragon Ball Super episode 57, and the totally-unrelated topic of strength debates. Whether it’s the multipliers or the scaling or the raw lists of battle powers, if you have been in the fandom long enough, you have at least come across these discussions. In a series about fighting, trying to determine the strongest fighter is an obvious path to go down as a community discussion point. In our extensive topic this week, we try to determine whether or not this is actually healthy for or destructive to your fandom.

Podcast Episode #0410 — 16 August 2016

While international companies tend to take the brunt of criticism for their endless Dragon Ball manga re-releases, Shueisha themselves have recently picked up this practice in Japan. Following the traditional tankōbon release and the landmark kanzenban re-release, we have also seen a surprisingly-convoluted “Full Color” digital and print release. This has all now been followed by the current “Sōshūhen” (or “Digest Edition”) “just like it was back in Jump” oversized print release. Tune into our show this week for a brief history of these manga re-releases and a massive breakdown on the “Digest Edition” and its features, benefits, digital fakeries, and more!
