Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

Podcast Episode #0316 — 03 December 2012

Back in February 2007 on Episode #0063 of our podcast, we started up a recurring segment called the “Manga Review of Awesomeness” (named as such due to never coming up with actual name). We went through the manga volume-by-volume with a slew of readers and perspectives — we had some who had read the entire thing front-to-back in Japanese, all the way down to our buddy Jeff who had never read it before in his life. After finishing up the manga several years later, we moved on to covering Dragon Ball GT.

It has been nearly a full year since our last “GT Review of Awesomeness”. The wait for more ends now.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0316! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff dive into our third “Dragon Ball GT Review of Awesomeness” with episodes 11-15. As we wrap up the Lood arc and are introduced to Dr. Mu, does the story feel as if it is actually going anywhere, and does the team finally feel like a complete whole? A catch-up on tons of “Battle of Gods” news with Julian in Japan wraps up the episode!

Podcast Episode #0315 — 26 November 2012

As we bring all seventeen “Dragon Ball Children” images and essay translations to a close, we tie it all together this week on the podcast with a look back at some of the stories and experiences that multiple authors all shared. From stories of trading chapters between friends at school to young artists opening their eyes to manga for the first time, each of these seventeen authors cite Akira Toriyama and specifically Dragon Ball as some of their chief influences. It begins with heart-warming awe and ends with maniacal ramblings — everything you would expect from manga artists.

You also get a peek into the adventure behind picking up tickets for next year’s theatrical Dragon Ball movie, “Battle of Gods”. This is the only place you are going to find and hear these stories in the English-speaking fandom — don’t miss it!

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0315! VegettoEX and Julian dive in to the seventeen “Dragon Ball Children”. From Oda to Kishimoto to Kubo to Hirano, many of today’s authors cite Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball as some of their chief influences. What kinds of stories and experiences do they all share? Podcast Episode #0311 — 01 October 2012

As we head forward into the Dragon Ball video game season for 2012, we thought it would be a great opportunity to also look back at what many consider to be one of the golden eras of DBZ gaming: the Butōden series. Launched in 1993 with Super Butōden on the Super Famicom, the series spanned three mainline games and a slew of spin-offs and upgrades. Our buddy Joe joins us for a walk down memory lane with the series as we attempt to figure out if they were just as much a yearly cash-in as we have seen in recent history, or if Super Butōden 2 really kinda is the greatest thing on the planet.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0311! VegettoEX and Hujio catch up on a couple weeks worth of news, specifically involving next year’s big new movie. Joe joins us for a trip down memory lane with the “Super Butoden” series as we attempt to figure out if it truly was a golden era of DBZ video gaming, if it was all the same type of cash-in we complain about these days, and if “Super Butoden 2” very specifically was the greatest DBZ game of all time. Your (hugely international!) thoughts on the game series wraps up our jam-packed episode!

Podcast Episode #0310 — 17 September 2012

This week’s topic is brought to us via Meri, who (from the sounds of it) embarrassed a couple dudes with Kame/Kaiō t-shirts at the gym. To what extent do you like to wear your heart on your sleeve, so to speak? Is anything fair game, or do you prefer the more subtle route with showcasing your love for our favorite franchise? A good bit of news catch-up takes place, along with a couple of your questions about Dragon Ball Kai, and that’s a podcast episode!

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0310! There are a variety of ways to show your love for “Dragon Ball” in public, so what level do you take it to? Are you one for the full-on cosplay walking down the street, or are the subtle logo-parodies more your style? News catch up and your questions about “Dragon Ball Kai” round out the episode!

Podcast Episode #0309 — 28 August 2012

As I continue to flesh out my Dragon Ball video game collection with a complete-in-box copy of Dragon Power for the NES, I thought it might be appropriate for us to take a step back and re-evaluate why it is we collect “stuff” for this franchise, and how that collecting mentality has changed (or not changed!) over the decades. Do we still feel the need to collect various bits of merchandise? How about you all? What are your thoughts as you take a look at your own habits?

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0309! VegettoEX and Hujio discuss the collector’s mentality. Why do we collect all this Dragon Ball stuff? How have our habits changed over time, if at all? Does the rest of fandom feel the same way we do, or does everything from geographic region to length of fandom come into play? News updates and more of your questions round out the episode!

Podcast Episode #0308 — 21 August 2012

We are back at you this week on our show with a fun topic about characters and their power. More specifically, our buddy Kaboom stops by to dive into the difference between a scouter reading a character’s power and someone sensing it via their own internal abilities, as well as the differences between characters who can and cannot both mask and amplify their battle power. Ever wonder why it was that Nappa was “powering up” if he could not hide his power? So did we!

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0308! VegettoEX and Kaboom discuss the ways in which characters are at advantages and disadvantages depending on the method by which they sense each others’ power. Additionally, if some characters cannot mask or amplify their power, what are they doing when they otherwise appear to be powering up? A quick news recap gets you on your way to round out the episode!
