Kanzenshuu – The Podcast

Your one and only Dragon Ball podcast!

Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!

Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.

Podcast Episode #0128 — 12 May 2008

Episode #0128 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry that it’s a day late and a buck short, but whatcha gonna do? It’s a shortie, but it’s a doozy.

Meri and I took a look at The Dragon Ball Z Legend: The Quest Continues, a “guidebook” (and boy, do we ever use that term loosely) written by Satoshi Ikeda and Martin Foster, and published by Cocoro Books. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0128! VegettoEX and Meri review “The Dragon Ball Z Legend” from Cocoro Books, which purports to be “an essential source for every anime fan”. What we found, instead, was a horribly-written attempt at a guidebook filled with spelling errors, factual inaccuracies, and more flip-flopping than one should ever have to read.

Podcast Episode #0127 — 04 May 2008

Episode #0127 of the podcast is available for download! Julian seems to need one more week or so to get all settled in with internet access, so we trucked onwards without him once more. Jeff, Meri, and myself tackled volume sixteen of the manga, and had both quite a bit to say about it, and at the same time, not a whole Hell of a lot to say about it. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0127! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff tackle volume 16 of the manga. The 23rd Tenka-ichi Budokai is more or less at a close (depending on which country you are in), and there is no turning back now with regards to the story-telling style. Lots of news, May’s releases, and your e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0126 — 27 April 2008

Episode #0126 of the podcast is available for download! As you know, the “Chouzenshuu” set finally came in, so we gave some more thoughts on it during the course of the show. We also talked about all the big news from the week, hit up some great e-mails, and gave away that Commander Red two-disc set! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0126! VegettoEX and Meri review the so-called “Chouzenshuu” set (actually the “Complete Song Collection Box”). 13 CDs, a couple hundred songs… how is it, and who is it for? Some great news about a possible new animation for DB, great e-mails, and our DVD set contest winner round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0125 — 20 April 2008

Episode #0125 of the podcast is available for download! It’s funny when we record on Friday and things happen over the next couple days that completely contradict statements made in the episode… like the Chôzenshû showing up, and Julian being alive. Anyway, this week Meri and I took a look at another fun inconsistency between the original manga and TV series. Like the last two, you’ll find a video over on YouTube showcasing the panels, the actual scene, etc. You can also check out our “Video” page, which has all of the other videos, as well. Hope you enjoy it! Also keep in mind that we’re running a contest to win a free copy of the Commander Red Saga 2-disc set, and this will be your last week to enter. Listen in for details, along with all the other fun stuff. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0125! VegettoEX and Meri tackle yet another inconsistency between the manga and TV series. In DBZ TV episode 95, Piccolo is shot through the chest by Freeza after knocking Goku out of the way. However, in the manga, it doesn’t appear that Piccolo actually pushes Goku out of the way, and rather, the blast was intended for Piccolo all along. Your e-mails and the last chance to enter the current contest round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0124 — 13 April 2008

Episode #0124 of the podcast is available for download! We were out of town all weekend, so I recorded an episode Friday afternoon with Jeff. That’s right, no Meri or Julian! While it’s quite blasphemous, the episode that was intended to be short ended up being normal length, and the episode that was intended to have no real topic ended up having a semi-real topic! We discussed part one of IGN’s “What’s Wrong With DBZ” series of articles, and probably have a lot to say about it that you aren’t expecting (or perhaps are expecting, based on what you’ve read in the below update). Yes, we know that IGN has posted up part two, but this was recorded before that… and yet, we still managed to predict their final point pretty dead-on! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0124! VegettoEX records an episode without anyone else, but decides he should at least invite Jeff over to make it more interesting than a conversation with himself. Our first episode without a real “topic” section ends up with one, anyway, discussing IGN’s intriguing “What’s Wrong With DBZ” series of articles. Your e-mails and our on-going DVD contest round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0123 — 06 April 2008

Episode #0123 of the podcast is available for download! Julian abandoned us for a week, but he probably had a pretty good reason. We took a look through volume fifteen of the manga in our awesome “Manga Review of Awesomeness”. It was pretty awesome. I think it involved some manga, too. In all seriousness, the storyline is hitting some dramatic highs, and Toriyama is certainly showing some incredible evolution and maturity as an author. In addition to this, we’re also starting up a podcast-exclusive contest where you can win a free Commander Red Saga DVD set. Listen in for details, of course. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0123! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff tackle volume 15 of the manga in our regular “Manga Review of Awesomeness” segment. We are closing in towards the final battle, and we have seen a lot of maturity in the author in terms of overall story structure and character development. Your e-mails and a contest to win a free DB DVD set round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0122 — 30 March 2008

Episode #0122 of the podcast is available for download! This week we took a total fanboy and fangirl approach to the news of JAM Project coming to perform at Otakon 2008, and developed our own ideal set-list of DBZ-only songs we want performed live. Listen in for sound samples, Julian’s DBZ ABCs, some good e-mail responses, and a whole lot more. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0122! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian react to the amazing news of JAM Project appearing at Otakon 2008 by coming up with their own completely illogical, unlikely, fanboyish, ideal set-list of DBZ-only songs to be performed live. More news, DBZ ABCs, April’s releases, and your e-mails (and YouTube comments, even) round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0121 — 24 March 2008

Episode #0121 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry it’s slightly late, but you know how things tend to go on Zombie Jesus Day. This week we did an extensive update to the “Rumor Guide” (without telling anyone! Haha!), and decided it would be fun to discuss all of these updates on the show. You’ll hear a ton of audio samples mixed in, including one from the amazing SUPER BATTLE IN THE WORLD English dub of DBZ movie three from the UK. No idea what we’re talking about? You’ll just have to listen in for more details. We hit every single section of the guide with at least one little update. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0121! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian go through and thoroughly update the “Rumor Guide” on the website. Obviously DBAF has some updates, but we also discuss things like Goku and Tullece not being brothers, so-called “Lost Episodes”, and even some funny old fansub translations. DBZ ABCs, some releases, and a great batch of e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0120 — 16 March 2008

Episode #0120 of the podcast is available for download! Everything’s back together on the server, and we’re right back on schedule. This week, we’re digging ourselves an absolutely ridiculous hole by talking about DragonBall AF. While we do give a little background on where the “rumor” (can you even call it simply a “rumor” anymore, though?) came from, what we’re really discussing is a web-comic/doujinshi by a Japanese fan named Toyble.

This project takes elements from all the different rumors over the years (like the name “Xicor”, for example) and creates an all-new storyline that takes place some time after the events of DragonBall GT. We brought on Desire Campbell to discuss the project with us, since he’s (as I would describe him) the ring-leader of an English fan-translation that’s been going on! That’s right, you can read along with the story right in the comfort of your computer chair. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0120! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian bring on Desire Campbell to discuss the recent “DragonBall AF” web-comic/doujinshi. No, this doesn’t mean that “DragonBall AF” is a real series that’s somehow been covered up by an amazing conspiracy; rather, a Japanese fan has put together a new series taking elements of the rumors over the years, which is now being translated into English for your enjoyment. DBZ ABCs, some releases, and a batch of amazing e-mails round out the episode.

Podcast Episode #0119 — 12 March 2008

Episode #0119 of the podcast is available for download! Holy crap, we’re back! After sorting out all of our server issues, we can finally get the site (and feed) posted with the new episode. If you check out the forums on a regular basis, you probably already caught it, but now it will be filling up all those nice little RSS aggregators, as well. This week, I finally came off the pain-killers and hastily threw together a discussion about staying home sick and the weird things you do during those times. Basically, we talked about 1999 and the FUNimation DBZ Season 3 tapes coming out. Julian’s DBZ ABCs, some releases, and a great e-mail round out the episode for everyone. Sorry it’s a little late (sorta)! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0119! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian catch up on various news and events, and then reminisce a bit about ye’ olden days, staying home from school sick, and doing strange things with the series (like writing scathing articles). March’s releases, Julian’s DBZ ABCs, and an e-mail from someone damn well convinced Trunks went SSJ2 round out the episode.
