Episode #0127 of the podcast is available for download! Julian seems to need one more week or so to get all settled in with internet access, so we trucked onwards without him once more. Jeff, Meri, and myself tackled volume sixteen of the manga, and had both quite a bit to say about it, and at the same time, not a whole Hell of a lot to say about it. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0127! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff tackle volume 16 of the manga. The 23rd Tenka-ichi Budokai is more or less at a close (depending on which country you are in), and there is no turning back now with regards to the story-telling style. Lots of news, May’s releases, and your e-mails round out the episode.

Some information has finally surfaced about the “Dragon Ball The Movies” individual disc releases. As expected, each theatrical film will be receiving its own individual release beginning on 08 August 2008. Two discs will be released on the second Friday of every month for ¥2940, with three volumes being released in the last month (March 2009). It will be interesting to see if they leave any of the bonus features on the discs, or if we will just be getting the film.

The Atari news continues to be interesting, this time with an announcement that Atari and their now-completely-and-entirely-official-in-whole parent company Infogrames will become one entity.

Currently, Infogrames owns 51.4% and is the majority stockholder in Atari. After the deal, Atari will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Infogrames after acquiring “all remaining outstanding equity interests”.

This agreement is an essential and positive development for Infogrames and its shareholders. It brings Atari fully under the control of Infogrames, delivering a platform for future growth in the US. This step closely follows a series of recent major restructuring actions implemented in an effort to reposition Atari, streamline its corporate structure and reduce its annualized costs, including costs related to being a US public company.

The Board of Infogrames believes that full ownership of a restructured Atari is an important step for the Group, leading to a simplified operating structure that will deliver greater efficiency, provide the Group with greater opportunities to expand its US distribution capabilities and strengthen its platform for its global online initiatives.

The full press release goes into more detail on the agreement, but what we are all really wondering is exactly how it affects us as DBZ fans still anticipating more games in the US (and abroad, for that matter). It does not appear as if anything will really change for the time being. Remember, though, that Atari’s contract with FUNimation does run out in 2010, so that is perhaps the time frame where the most interesting and relevant news will occur.

Of other possible interest to DBZ fans is the current rumor circulating that Dimps, known to DBZ fans as the developers behind the entire “Budokai” series on PS2 and PSP as well as the upcoming “Burst Limit”, is actually the developer working on the monumental “Street Fighter IV”.

IGN has what appears to be the final opening video sequence for the upcoming “Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit” for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Much like the original “Budokai” opening, it is almost entirely made up of in-game-engine cut-scenes (some of which we have seen before in prior trailers). At the very least, you can hear a clean version of the game’s opening theme, “Kiseki no Honō yo Moeagare!!”… which, as you will remember, had a CD single release (combined with “Super Survivor”, the opening to “Sparking! METEOR”) that was seemingly pushed back indefinitely.

So these covers have been out for a little while, but only on Amazon Japan. Toei’s site was finally updated, and so will we. As with all the other releases so far, discs #07 and #08 contain six episodes each, covering episodes 037 thru 048, and are slated to be released 09 May 2008.

You can still order any of the previously released discs or any of these discs from Amazon Japan.

Episode #0126 of the podcast is available for download! As you know, the “Chouzenshuu” set finally came in, so we gave some more thoughts on it during the course of the show. We also talked about all the big news from the week, hit up some great e-mails, and gave away that Commander Red two-disc set! Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0126! VegettoEX and Meri review the so-called “Chouzenshuu” set (actually the “Complete Song Collection Box”). 13 CDs, a couple hundred songs… how is it, and who is it for? Some great news about a possible new animation for DB, great e-mails, and our DVD set contest winner round out the episode.

First up, the new IGN blog from Donny Clay has been updated. There is really nothing new (or of interest, really), but it is great to see that IGN is at least gung-ho to allow this type of promotion. 1UP actually has their own preview of the game up, as well, from their visit to Namco-Bandai in Japan; if you’re looking for a more non-biased write-up of the game than Donny Clay’s, this one might be more up your alley.

The official Japanese site for the game has updated with a new, narrated trailer. Pretty good stuff. It is not completely narrated by Masako Nozawa like the vast majority of other games’ trailers, but it is a fun watch, none-the-less.

[pro-player width=’320′ height=’240′ type=’video’ image=’http://www.kanzenshuu.com/media/video/burstlimit_narrated_pv.jpg’]http://www.kanzenshuu.com/media/video/burstlimit_narrated_pv.wmv[/pro-player]

Finally, back over here in the US, GameStop is offering a free t-shirt that will be shipped with all pre-orders of “Burst Limit” (both for the Xbox 360 and the PS3). If you can wait a day or so for it to show up and want an extra shirt, it is not too bad a deal.

Episode #0125 of the podcast is available for download! It’s funny when we record on Friday and things happen over the next couple days that completely contradict statements made in the episode… like the Chôzenshû showing up, and Julian being alive. Anyway, this week Meri and I took a look at another fun inconsistency between the original manga and TV series. Like the last two, you’ll find a video over on YouTube showcasing the panels, the actual scene, etc. You can also check out our “Video” page, which has all of the other videos, as well. Hope you enjoy it! Also keep in mind that we’re running a contest to win a free copy of the Commander Red Saga 2-disc set, and this will be your last week to enter. Listen in for details, along with all the other fun stuff. Definitely check it out.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0125! VegettoEX and Meri tackle yet another inconsistency between the manga and TV series. In DBZ TV episode 95, Piccolo is shot through the chest by Freeza after knocking Goku out of the way. However, in the manga, it doesn’t appear that Piccolo actually pushes Goku out of the way, and rather, the blast was intended for Piccolo all along. Your e-mails and the last chance to enter the current contest round out the episode.

We are going to somewhat be getting some newly animated Dragon Ball…!

Anime News Network writes:

This year’s 21st issue (released on April 21) of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has announced that a “Jump Super Anime Tour” will visit 10 Japanese cities this fall with new anime specials for Dragon Ball and One Piece. The tour is the eighth project that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the magazine. The magazine also hints that at least one other title will also be animated.

This is pretty awesome news. We will definitely be sending Julian to one of the events for first-hand reports. Lucky bastard…
