Our “weekly” podcast, then named Daizenshuu EX – The Podcast, began in November 2005 as a new way to reach out to our audience, extend that audience, and simply have fun with the franchise we love so much. Though we updated the name to Kanzenshuu – The Podcast in April 2012 with the launch of this website, we remain the best, most authoritative, entertaining, and only Dragon Ball podcast you will ever need!
Each episode, the Kanzenshuu staff discuss the latest news in the world of Dragon Ball from across the globe before heading into a core topic — whether it be an in-depth discussion of the way in which the story and franchise was produced, theories for in-universe scenarios and “What If?” scenes, interviews with those actually involved with the franchise, thorough reviews of video games or home video releases, we have you covered! We wrap things up with the month’s upcoming releases, questions from the listeners, and much more! We regularly have contests, broadcast live (watch our Twitter and Facebook!), and have a great time sharing our love of the Dragon Ball franchise with you all each and every week.
Podcast Episode #0306 — 05 August 2012
This week on the show we had Julian live in the house all the way from Japan to kick back and shoot the breeze. With a rough idea of “music” and jumping off the copious amount of lyrics translation he has done lately, we head into music analysis territory combined with a little bit of discussion concerning the art of translation itself.
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0306! VegettoEX drags Julian all the way from Japan for a casual, in-person conversation about music in the series. How did the theme and insert songs evolve over a decade? Did the lyrics and compositions evolve along with the series? How did the shift to pop songs for GT affect fan response? A bit of news catch-up and translation talk rounds out the episode!

Podcast Episode #0305 — 23 July 2012
He brings a close to “the big three” on the animation side of things, and he ties in nicely due to his animation supervision work on next year’s new Dragon Ball Z movie, so Tadayoshi Yamamuro certainly makes for a perfect podcast topic.

Yamamuro has served in just about every role someone possibly could on the animation side of things. From starting with in-between animation, moving to key animation, and now serving as essentially the single go-to man for merchandise and other high-profile artwork, Yamamuro has certainly earned his place in the pantheon of Dragon Ball contributors. Where did he actually come from, though, and how did he make his way through the sea of other talented artists?
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0305! VegettoEX and Hujio cover Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Minoru Maeda and Katsuyoshi Nakatusuru may have carried the franchise’s animation a long way, but it has been Yamamuro that not only brought it into its final stretch, but carried its torch onward through the second wave. Where did Yamamuro come from, and how did he make his way through the ranks of other talented artists and animators? Our live audience also helps us answer what everyone’s favorite go-to episodes of the series are to chill out and relax without a huge commitment!

Podcast Episode #0304 — 16 July 2012
The choice of a topic for our show this week — the upcoming Dragon Ball Z movie set to debut in March 2013 — was probably going to be somewhat obvious, but combine our own darkest wishes for the movie with your own moderately-insane ideas, and you have a cornucopia of interesting discussion material!
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0304! VegettoEX, Meri, and Hujio discuss the recently-announced 2013 “Dragon Ball Z” animated movie. What do we hope for in this new production, and does it line up with what you all are expecting? Random tidbits of video game news round out the jam-packed episode!

One point we completely neglected to get into was the question about the canonicity of the new movie. Each time a new bit of material comes out, the flood gates open with fandom collectively asking if they are supposed to accept it as always having existed as part of the “official” story despite being shoehorned in so many years later. Or is that not what you are asking at all? Regardless of the meaning behind your question, I wrote up a lengthy piece about it back when Episode of Bardock was the new animated hotness. Every single point is still valid, swapping out that feature for the upcoming movie. Give it a gander, and when you are done, ask yourself if you still even care about cannons.
Podcast Episode #0303 — 10 July 2012
This week on the show we gathered together for a mid-year checkup on our 2012 predictions. Things went astray the very next week back in January when Episode of Bardock did in fact have a somewhat-formal home release announced, but how about the rest of our predictions? Do our combined decades upon decades of experience and analysis add up to any amount of accuracy, or are we just shooting blanks?
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0303! VegettoEX and Hujio dive into our 2012 predictions for a mid-year checkup. How have things been shaping up so far, especially considering situations like the FUNimation Blu-ray cancellation? Tons of huge news from the video game and animation world shake things up, and a few of your questions round out the episode!

Podcast Episode #0302 — 25 June 2012
This week on the show we took a dive into the ghosts of collaboration past with Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball alongside Osamu Akimoto and Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo (or simply “KochiKame” for short). Things start off back in 1991 with a two-page gag in Volume 69 of KochiKame, then jump ahead to 2006 with the 30th anniversary of the series and a special nine-page collaboration chapter which finds Ryo-san tossing parking violations against the unlikeliest of criminals.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0302! VegettoEX and Julian dive into some crossover history. Osamu Akimoto’s “KochiKame” series has mixed it up twice with Dragon Ball in its 30+ years. 1991 saw a short two-page gag that threatened to end the series entirely, while 2006 saw a nine-page collaboration chapter with Akira Toriyama himself. What kind of trouble does Ryo-san get into decade after decade with our favorite franchise? News recaps from around the world, your questions, and more rounds out the episode!

Podcast Episode #0300 — 29 May 2012
We like to celebrate in style here at Kanzenshuu… and by “style”, we mean that we want to provide as much valuable and engaging content as we can while still having a ton of fun! Sure, we celebrate the fact that we have been podcasting pretty much every single week for over six years to hit this #300 mark, but we also play a fun little game of “What If?” Five situations are proposed to the panel (and you all!), and we discuss what would happen differently in the Dragon Ball story if they were the case. What if Goku never grew his tail back? What if Yamcha paid attention? What if Kuririn killed Vegeta? Tune in for these and much more!
Incredible thanks to our buddy Drabaz for thinking of us down at Animazement this past weekend and gifting us with perhaps the best introductory congratulations we could have ever imagined!

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0300! VegettoEX, Julian, and Meri toss around a couple “What If” ideas: What if Goku never grew his tail back? What if Yamcha paid attention? What if Kuririn killed Vegeta? These (plus plenty more!) “What If” situations and a fun look back at three hundred episodes of spectacular “Dragon Ball” podcasting wrap up the episode.

Podcast Episode #0299 — 21 May 2012
Back on Episode #0291 of our show, we ran through a history and profile of Minoru Maeda, one of the most prolific character designers and animation supervisors from the entire run of the Dragon Ball franchise. This week we tackle #2 on the list of the “big three” with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru. Perhaps best known for emulating Akira Toriyama’s art style to an uncanny degree, Nakatsuru was also solely responsible for the design of Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT, along with a wealth of other both subtle and significant contributions over the history of the franchise. We take you through his humble beginnings as he volunteers to work on the Dragon Ball anime adaptation all the way through key-animating the final scene to Dragon Ball GT.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0299! VegettoEX and Hujio discuss a non-video game of omega proportions before digging into a history and profile of Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru. Perhaps best known for emulating Akira Toriyama’s art style to an uncanny degree, Nakatsuru was also solely responsible for the design of Super Saiyan 4 in “Dragon Ball GT”, along with a wealth of other both subtle and significant contributions over the history of the franchise. Who was this man, how did he get started with the franchise, and how did he rise to such heights?

Podcast Episode #0298 — 15 May 2012
We are shifting some podcast topic schedules around a little bit this month, which meant that this week’s show needed a topic, and needed one quickly! Thankfully, we have a massive archive of on-going discussions that you all are having every single day, and we can steal from it! I really loved this past week’s discussion of whether or not the series needs a narrator, so that became our main topic for the episode. Add to that two weeks worth of news and home video confusion both in our releases segment and e-mails/questions/feedback, and you have one heck of a show.
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Episode #0298! VegettoEX and Meri discuss whether the TV adaptation of “Dragon Ball” needs or benefits from a narrator. What does Jōji Yanami add to the collective package of an episode, and how does it affect the overall structure and perception of said episode? Could the recap be taken away and everything else still work? Two weeks worth of international news, releases, and your home video questions round out the episode!
