As we continue to play catch-up with the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”, back on March 28th it updated with a comment from Shōko Nakagawa, known worldwide as the voice of the Oracle Fish (and probably some other stuff):

Just 21 days until the premiere!
Today we’ve got a comment from Shōko Nakagawa, voice of the Oracle Fish!

Getting to breathe life into a Dragon Ball character again after the last film, and being able to inhabit the same world as them, was totally unbelievable. Right after recording wrapped up, it was like I was walking in a dream. But as more time passes, it all starts to feel real: I’m thrilled that this “Oracle Fish” character really does inhabit this universe, and I really did get to take part in this historic movie. I got to experience being in the same scene as Goku and Vegeta, which I missed out on last film. I got hyped up just at the thought of breathing in the same carbon dioxide Vegeta exhaled, so it was really tough synching myself up with someone as laid back as the Oracle Fish.

Plus, the fact that Freeza’s coming back to life is definitely good news; he may be a bad guy, but everyone adores him. There have been loads of exciting battles throughout all the manga and anime mankind has produced throughout history, but in my life the two lines which filled me with the most despair were Freeza’s “My battle power is 530,000” and “I still have two more transformations left”. At first I was terrified of him, yet somehow he’s a character you just can’t quite hate. When I see the sparkle in boys’ eyes as they talk about the Freeza story arc, I’m amazed that something could make them so happy and excited.

Like in the last film, I get the feeling that Vegeta’s becoming more laid-back and cheerful, so it’ll be fun to see what he’s like this time around (laughs). Since Toriyama-sensei wrote the script himself this time, I think it’s packed with character dialogue and other stuff that make you go “Yes! These are the characters!” Just like the last film, this one’s got both familiar faces and unexpected ones; each and every line might go down in universal history, so you’d better pay attention to them all.

On March 29th, they had an inspiring visit from a certain member of the galactic patrol:

Bulma: Hey, Bulma here!
Just 20 days until the premiere!
Today…Oh hey, Jaco. So, you’ve come too?

Jaco: What do you mean, “you”?! I’m a super elite galactic patrolman! Is that any way to talk to me?! I came to tell you that the Earth’s in peril!

Bulma: Well, since you know Freeza’s back, can’t you get rid of him?

Jaco: I cannot get involved in such affairs.  Right then, I’m outta here.

Bulma: H-Hang on a minute! I thought you said you were a super-elite galactic patrolman! Where’s your pride?!

Jaco: It’s true. I am a proud super-elite.

Bulma: Then how about you lend us a hand?

Jaco: ……My mission is to protect the peace of the galaxy, so I’ve got no choice but to turn a blind eye to Freeza. Forget it.

Bulma: How can I?! Hey, where are you going?!

Jaco: Farewell!

Good evening, it’s the staff.
Just 19 days to go until the premiere!

The film Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” was shown to audiences for the first time today at Shueisha’s joint preview.

At Shinjuku Wald 9, Masako Nozawa (voice of Son Goku and Gohan), Ryūsei Nakao (voice of Freeza), and Shōko Nakagawa (voice of the Oracle Fish) came to the screening for an onstage meet-and-greet.

Sparks flew as Goku and Freeza took the stage, and a cheer rose up from the audience when Nozawa and Nakao did voice-overs.

Amidst discussion on topics such as the script and the film’s highlights, it was announced that the film’s world premiere will be held in Hollywood! The entire hall was enveloped in cheering and applause at this globally-anticipated news.

All you fine folks will get to see it too in another 19 days! Hold on just a little longer!

blog_19_days

The story for Revival of “F”, opening nationwide in Japan 18 April 2015 in 2D and IMAX 3D, is being crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he is writing it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it will, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, will serve as the film’s director and animation supervisor. Norihito Sumitomo will return from Battle of Gods and the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai for musical composition duties. Momoiro Clover Z will contribute a song alongside Maximum the Hormone, whose “F” will be used as a “battle song” during the film. Revival of “F” is set to bring back Freeza and will also include two new characters (Sorbet and Tagoma), feature Beerus and Whis again from Battle of Gods, and much more.

We will continue to catch up with our translations for this blog over the next few days, so stay tuned…!

The soundtrack was originally listed with a tentative 40 background musical tracks, but that appears to have been whittled down during the movie’s production. In contrast, the original soundtrack for Battle of Gods contained 41 background musical tracks and two songs performed by FLOW. It should also be noted that some of the earlier tracks — specifically “The Pilaf Gang”, “Shenlong Comes Out”, and the main opening theme “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” — have been recycled from the Battle of Gods soundtrack.

The full track listing for the soundtrack, including the original Japanese text and romanizations, can be found on the “Movie Soundtracks” page of our “Music Database”.

The soundtrack is currently available for pre-order from CDJapan.

Momoiro Clover Z has revealed the cover art for both versions of their “Vow of ‘Z'” CD single.

The standard (“Z”) edition features the group members drawn in Dragon Ball style courtesy of Toei Animation, while the (“F”) edition with a bonus Blu-ray features the group members in a collective Freeza pose.

“Vow of ‘Z'” will be used as the closing credits theme to the upcoming film, Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”. A cover of “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” will also be included on the CD single (though it is not used in the film).

The group’s CD single will be released 29 April 2015 in Japan and will come in two versions: a “Z” edition on CD containing three songs and their respective karaoke versions (KICM-1594; ¥1157 + tax; ¥1250 total), and an “F” edition, which will also include a Blu-ray featuring the music video for the movie’s theme (KIZM-345~6; ¥1713 + tax; ¥1850 total).

The CD singles are available for pre-order from CDJapan.

Dragon Ball XENOVERSE has been much more stable since its rocky launch back in February, but Bandai Namco has continued to make improvements to the game while simultaneously prepping additional downloadable content.

The game received a 1.04 compatibility and update patch yesterday, which — in addition to prepping players for the second downloadable content pack — increases the level cap from 80 to 85, adjusts certain incident rates and player positions, and more:

・Increased level cap from 80 to 85
・Incident rate of WARNING during parallel quests has been increased.
・The position where players come back in Toki Toki City has been changed. After cleared parallel quests, now players will be back near “Time Machine Station” in Toki Toki City.
・The position of Masters has also been changed.
・Changed the spec when disconnected from XENOVERSE servers. When players are disconnected from XENOVERSE servers, they still can play offline mode, now. (before this update, users had to be back to title screen)
・Although Time Space delivery and Campaign events won’t be available, online battles and parallel quests will be still available from each online reception.
・Countermeasure against cheating: Players who have been employing various cheating techniques will not be able to log into multi-lobbies or join online battles or parallel quests.
・Some rules during online battles have been changed:
-During endless battles, capsules cannot be used.
-Communication delay during online battles has been reduced.
-Made adjustment on time patrol, battles and parallel quests
・Added version information on title screen

Downloadable content packs are available at a base price of $9.99/¥950 per pack, with a season pass available netting players interested in acquiring all three packs a $5 savings at $24.99.

Dragon Ball XENOVERSE — developed by Dimps for Bandai Namco — is the latest video game for the franchise on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

And on March 26th, they featured the following words from Yūko Minaguchi, the voice actress for Videl:

Hey, Bulma here!
Just 23 days left until the movie premieres!
Today we’ve got a comment from the voice of Videl, Yūko Minaguchi!

Since I had got the chance to be in the last film, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, I was wondering whether Videl and Pan would feature in this next film. So I was happy to get to take part in this one too.

I had heard how Toriyama-sensei was involved with the story for the last movie, so when I found out that he was writing the script himself this time, I was curious if it would be a continuation of the last film, and looked forward to seeing just when it would be set. After reading the script and finding it was a sequel to Battle of Gods, I thought how sensei’s word view just keeps going on and on.

In the last film Pan was still in the womb, while in this film she’s been born…she’s still a bit flat-faced, so I was worried if she’ll really grow up into the Pan I know and love, but at any rate I’m glad she was born without any complications.

In this film, Freeza comes back to life and gets even stronger, plus Goku and Vegeta are training too, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the fighting scenes turn out. I think this movie will be more fun if you’ve seen the last one, so go re-watch Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods on DVD or something, so that you can appreciate the connections between the two.

One more thing: I think Gohan wearing a tracksuit in the movie sums him up perfectly: so earnest, yet unpretentious (laughs).

Finally, on March 27th they updated with another overview of various (Japan-only) promotional tie-ins for the film:

The Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” page in our “Movie Guide” has received a significant update: a synopsis of the movie! Beware: perhaps quite obviously, spoilers are in full effect here.

As we did with 2013’s film, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, a shorter (but still comprehensive) synopsis has been added to the movie’s main guide page, and a longer (intricately-detailed) synopsis will be added at a later date pending additional viewings and reflection time. Think of today’s addition as something like a “mid-level” synopsis; an even more-condensed version will replace it when the detailed synopsis makes its debut.

Our own Julian had a chance to check out to first public preview screening for the film this week (30 March 2015). Check out a few photos from the day:

Episode #0377! VegettoEX and Meri discuss a little bit of site content and “XENOVERSE” catch-up before setting up a slew of mini-topics. VegettoEX wraps things up with a salute to Irwin for a special line of Dragon Ball figures from 15 years ago.

This week’s 2015 #18 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan reveals a few details about the upcoming third downloadable content pack for Dragon Ball XENOVERSE:

xenoverse_dlc_3_wj

The pack will include Golden Freeza (and “others”) as a playable character; two new masters, Jaco and “??”; five additional Parallel Quests; 13 new technqiues; one new costume (Gohan’s tracksuit); two new accessories (including Tagoma’s scouter); and three new Z-Souls.

Bonus items promised for early Japanese Revival of “F” attendees are set to include related, unlockable content in various video games, including Dragon Ball XENOVERSE; it is unclear if any of these items are related to or even the same ones promised for this third pack.

The Kame-Sen’nin outfit set and Jaco were made available in Japan for pre-order/first-pressing copies of the game, but until now had not yet been made available outside of that limited release.

Downloadable content packs are available at a base price of $9.99/¥950 per pack, with a season pass available netting players interested in acquiring all three packs a $5 savings at $24.99.
