“Zenkai Battle” Receiving New Team Rematch Option

Zenkai Battle — the upcoming, 3.0 upgrade to the Japan-exclusive, arcade-only, multiplayer fighting game — will receive a new team rematch mode.

The “One More Game!” mode will allow players who win in Team Battle mode to request to play together again in the next match. If both players request the feature, they will continue onward together.

An additional update on the game is promised for 03 July 2015.

Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku and Vegeta will join the roster for the game’s 3.0 Zenkai Battle update. The game’s update will both launch and be on display at this year’s Jump Victory Carnival next month. Zenkai Battle Royale first test-launched in Japanese arcades at the end of 2010 and, while it has continued to receive constant updates since then, has not had a home port announced.

“Dragon Ball Super” Twitter Countdown: 10 Days

The official Twitter account for Dragon Ball Super has started a daily countdown leading up to the series’ debut 05 July 2015. Today’s entry, starting with ten days until the premiere, focuses on the promotional poster:

Dragon Ball Super, which begins airing 05 July 2015 on Fuji TV, is the first all-new TV series for the franchise in 18 years. The story and characters will be developed by original manga author Akira Toriyama, will star veteran voice actress Masako Nozawa, and will be directed by Kimitoshi Chioka. The series will, “…follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Boo, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace.” A manga adaptation from “Toyotarō” will run each month in V-Jump starting with this month’s August 2015 issue.

“Dragon Ball Super: Super Start Guide” Cover Revealed

The upcoming Dragon Ball Super TV series will receive a “Super Start Guide” courtesy of V-Jump just in time for its debut. Very little is known about the magazine-style guide book, but the official website for Dragon Ball Heroes has revealed a small image of its cover:

The book will contain information on the “mysterious characters” (one of whom we know is “Champa”), will include a “super comment” from Akira Toriyama, as well as more information about the series’ production. The guide will also come packed with a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS) Son Goku card (GDPJ-06) for the arcade version of Dragon Ball Heroes.

The V-Jump Special Edition: TV Animation “Dragon Ball Super” Super Start Guide will hit magazine stands in Japan 03 July 2015 for ¥750. Copies are available to pre-order from CDJapan and Amazon Japan.

“Extreme Butōden” (3DS) Japanese 2nd Week Sales Figures

While the rest of the world has to wait until October, Japan just wrapped up its second week with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden on the Nintendo 3DS.

According to the Media Create sales list for the reporting period of 15 June 2015 to 21 June 2015, the game pushed another 16,443 copies, coming in as the fifth-best selling game of the week. This brings the game up to 91,102 cumulative copies sold.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden launched in Japan 11 June 2015. First-press copies of the game come packed with bonus content, including a downloadable version of the Super Famicom game Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 2 (previously included as a part of the J-Legend Retsuden compilation game; albeit now with replacement music). Arc System Works developed the game for Bandai Namco. The developer previously worked on the Bukū… / Supersonic Warriors games on the Nintendo GameBoy Advance and DS.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden is currently available for order from CDJapan. The Nintendo 3DS / New Nintendo 3DS are region-locked; a Japanese system is required for the game to play.

“Zenkai Battle Royale” Game Receiving New “Zenkai Battle” Update

Zenkai Battle Royale — the Japan-exclusive, arcade-only, multiplayer fighting game — is receiving a new “3.0” update (following the 2.0 “Super Saiyan Awakening” update in 2012), simply titled Zenkai Battle.

The game’s official website, in conjunction with the August 2015 issue of V-Jump, reveals that Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku and Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta will be joining the roster as playable characters.

The most recent additions to the roster have included Golden Freeza and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS) Son Goku from Revival of “F”.

Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta was developed for the Dragon Battlers card-based arcade game in 2009 before making his way to Raging Blast on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later that same year.

Zenkai Battle Royale first test-launched in Japanese arcades at the end of 2010 and, while it has continued to receive constant updates since then, has not had a home port announced.

“Extreme Butōden” Coming to Europe & America October 2015

Bandai Namco have announced that the Nintendo 3DS game Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden will make its way — with its name intact! — to Europe and the Americas this October.

Localized versions will be released in Europe 16 October 2015 with an American release following suit 20 October 2015.

The announcement comes following a couple very specific teases from the company.

“Dragon Ball Super” Ending CD Single Releasing August 12

Japanese rock band Good Morning America has revealed that the CD single for their song “Hello Hello Hello” — which will be used as the closing theme to the Dragon Ball Super TV series beginning next month — will be released in Japan on 12 August 2015.

An additional song titled “Have Some Cider” (サイダーでも飲んで) will also be included, along with another yet-to-be-named song that has not been recorded. The CD single (COCA-17044) will retail for ¥1,000 plus tax and is currently listed on Amazon Japan for pre-order.

In the same update, the band revealed that they will now be hosted on the TRIAD rock label which was founded by Columbia Japan in 1981. The label had gone dormant by 2007, but has recently seen a revival in new artists. The label previously produced the work of the famous rock band The Yellow Monkey, which itself disbanded in 2004. The band’s former lead vocalist, Kazuya Yoshii, will be performing the opening theme for Dragon Ball Super, “Chōzetsu ☆ Dynamic!”.

Good Morning America previously contributed the third overall closing theme (and first of the Majin Boo arc) for the Dragon Ball Kai TV series, “Dear Zarathustra“.

New “Dragon Ball Super” Character Revealed: “Champa”

In conjunction with today’s August 2015 issue of V-Jump, Japanese entertainment and news websites have revealed the name of a new character coming to the Dragon Ball Super TV series:

“Champa” (シャンパ / shanpa) is pronounced with a “sh” sound at the beginning, in all likelihood taking its inspiration from シャンパン (shanpan or “champagne”), following with Beerus’ and Whis’ name pun series.

V-Jump provides little additional context, teasing the character further:

His Name is Champa!!
Revealed in the main visual!! Who the heck is this new character “Champa” that’s next to Beerus…?!

The name for the corresponding attendant-type character seen along with Champa on the official website has not yet been revealed.
