Murisam is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Murisam makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 90, broadcast on 14 May 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Universe 10 team.
Biography
Murisam is a Universe 10 warrior who uses a technique similar to Muay Thai. In the Tournament of Power, he is dropped out of the ring by Cabba's blow.[1][2] In the manga continuity, Murisam is the first to be eliminated, by No. 17 just after the tournament begins.[3]
Tournament of Power
Murisam is recruited for the Tournament of Power by Rumoosh, the God of Destruction of Universe 10. As the leader of the team, Mulithim introduces the otherwise-hooded members including Murisam to his Kaiōshin Gowasu, demonstrating their dedication to a regular protein intake in order to build strength.[4]
The Angel Kusu leads the team in a dance to foster team unity, while Gowasu records. He plans to upload it as a video entitled "Us Dancing" on GodTube, and hopes it will get a lot of views.[5]
The team is next seen when they are transported to the World of Void by the Great Priest.[6] After the tournament begins, Murisam, his teammate Methiop, and Shosa of Universe 4 all get knocked flying by the Universe 3 fighter Narirama's spinning technique, called "Super Survival Mode".[7]
Cabba is attempting to fight Vegeta when Murisam and Nigrissi of Universe 3 attack him. Cabba easily knocks both of them out of the arena, and the Omni-Kings tap them out on the GodPads.[2]
On the sidelines, Rumoosh punishes Murisam for his failure by slapping his head with his trunk while Mulithim and the other eliminated male members of the Universe 10 team are enthused by the transformations of Universe 2's Maiden Squadron.[8]
After the elimination of Obni, Universe 10 is erased.[9] When No. 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all of the destroyed universes, Murisam is seen with his teammates and Gowasu in the Kaiōshin realm of Universe 10.[10]
Name
Murisam's name is likely derived from the element Samarium (サマリウム), a lanthanide metal with the atomic number 62. This pun follows the theme of Universe 10 warriors being named after elements of the periodic table.[11]
Production
In Dragon Ball Super Episode 90, the Universe 10 team appears hooded, with the exception of Mulithim. They remain hooded in Episode 91, suggesting that their designs had not yet been finalized when animation began on these episodes.
Performance
Murisam is voiced by Makoto Naruse, who also voices Ea, the Kaiōshin of Universe 3. In the FUNimation dub, Murisam is voiced by Alex Mai, who also voices Comfrey of Universe 9.
