Episode Summary
Vegeta is furious that Chronoa whisked them all away from their battle with Ozotto, but she says she had no choice; considering their injuries from the Super Space-Time Tournament, they had no chance of winning. Goku asks who that guy was exactly, and Chronoa explains that he’s Majin Ozotto, someone they’ve been on the lookout for. He’s gained so much power, and Trunks figures he must have absorbed a lot of people, gaining their abilities along the way. Vegeta repeats that Ozotto is specifically on the hunt for gods as well, which is why he absorbed Piccolo. Goku reflects on everyone they lost on Earth, as well as Kaiō. Chronoa says they all need to recover as quickly as possible so they can go after Ozotto.
Meanwhile, Ozotto — with what appears to be Kaiōshin and Kibito in tow — approaches the Elder Kaiōshin. Ozotto explains that these two are actually pieces of his body, split off and transformed. Kaiōshin in particular was delicious. Ozotto has searched across time and space, absorbing people along the way, gaining their power and abilities. As a showcase, Ozotto changes into Baby Vegeta.
The Xeno versions of Goku and Vegeta — both as Super Saiyan 4 — fly in and land by Ozotto. Goku tells him to just give up. Ozotto (still as Baby) is impressed to find a Goku and Vegeta from another dimension here. Goku takes this to mean that he’s already met the “other” Goku and Vegeta. Ozotto says he was planning on defeating them, but they ran away; this gets Vegeta’s attention, who thinks there’s something off about this guy.
Goku and Vegeta both power up to their “Limit Breaker” versions of Super Saiyan 4. Vegeta is the first to attack with a ki blast; Ozotto blocks, but Vegeta takes the opportunity to grab him by the head, smash it into the ground, and then proceed to drag him as he flies along. Vegeta throws him into the sky, where Goku follows up with his own physical assault. Ozotto (still as Baby) halts himself mid-air, and suddenly starts blocking nearly every attack Goku and Vegeta throw at him. Ozotto returns to his normal form and introduces himself as someone who devours everything and gains new powers as a result — one day, he will consume the entire universe! He can also split his body apart, which he demonstrates by summoning the “Kaiōshin” and “Kibito” from before, which transform again, this time into Freeza and Cell. While his clones keep Goku and Vegeta busy, Ozotto turns his attention to the Elder Kaiōshin again. Cell and Freeza block their path…
Chronoa, Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks arrive on Planet Namek, only to see a village devastated below them. Vegeta says there is not a single Namekian left; they’ve all been absorbed. Goku and Trunks sense something which they believe to be Ozotto and fly off in that direction.
A different Ozotto here on Namek says that a Dragon Clan member that’s become a god has a different flavor altogether, and supposes he should just take the entire life force of this planet for his final meal here. Goku and the others arrive to challenge him, but Ozotto is largely unfazed. Goku uses Ultra Instinct -Sign- while Vegeta turns Super Saiyan Blue and Trunks turns Super Saiyan God. Ozotto is impressed with the power and desires it after all.
Meanwhile, the Xeno versions of Goku and Vegeta win in their battle against “Freeza” and “Cell”. Ozotto now truly does want to absorb them both, regardless of which dimensional version they are. Ozotto addresses Goku and Vegeta directly, explaining to them that he has separate bodies scattered across the various universes for his hunting escapades. This unfortunately means his power is diminished. He will temporarily call his various bodies back so he can regain this power, and in the meantime, he invites Goku and Vegeta to Ozotto Palace. This palace is his home, and while there, he can unleash his true power. Goku recognizes the enormous ki coming from Ozotto, and seems concerned that this is not his full power. Ozotto repeats that this is because he needs to summon his body parts back, and doesn’t Goku want to save all his friends anyway? Chronoa asks if this is where everyone else, which Ozotto takes as interest. He will therefore guide them to his palace!
Both Ozottos invite their respective Goku and Vegeta groups, leaving a calling card behind…
Episode Notes
Manga vs. Anime Differences
-
Though the rough underlying story beats are largely the same between the two media, the Meteor Mission! manga series by Yoshitaka Nagayama includes a wealth of additional details and character appearances beyond what is seen here in the promotional anime. Of note, Goku and Vegeta battle Ozotto-clones of the Ginyu Special-Force and Metal Coola on Planet Namek in the manga version.
Staff & Cast Notes
- Though Ozotto speaks with his “normal” voice while in Super Baby 2 form (as opposed to with Yūsuke Numata’s voice as in the Dragon Ball GT series), the Freeza and Cell “clones” of Ozotto are portrayed by Ryūsei Nakao and Norio Wakamoto, respectively.
Episode Credits
All credits listed below are as originally presented in the promotional episode. Unlike all prior episodes of the promotional anime, this “Meteor Mission” run of episodes does not include any animation credits; instead, general credits are featured during the opening animation (primarily those of Bandai staff), while the end credits exclusively feature voice credits.
