Episode Summary
Both groups convene — consisting of Goku, Vegeta, Goku: Xeno, Vegeta: Xeno, Trunks: Xeno, and Chronoa in total — as they follow Ozotto’s invitation to his palace. Trunks asks Chronoa (her being the Kaiōshin of Time) to stay behind, as Vegeta explains that their opponent is after gods; Goku agrees with this. Chronoa complies, but asks that they not do anything too reckless, and that the Time Patrollers keep their communication channels open. She hands something over to the other Goku, but he’s not sure if he’ll actually need it.
The group are welcomed to Ozotto’s palace, which holds everyone that he ate. In order to proceed, they’ll need to enter all five rooms in front of them. This is just a fun game for Ozotto, drawing all this power… and now he’s even like a god himself. Ozotto explains that if they defeat all his clones as well as his real body, everyone will be free. All Ozotto wants to do is consume; these Saiyans have hidden power, and he would like to add that to the pile. Goku states that they’ll just defeat him and save everyone!
Vegeta tries to blast the first door open, but it’s to no avail; they must individually touch the respective protruding ball on each door to be let inside. The doors open, and everyone walks into a separate room.
Goku walks in to find Ozotto sitting down in a dark room. The lights come on, and Ozotto says that if Goku defeats him, he can search for everyone as much as he’d like. Goku powers up to Ultra Instinct -Sign-.
Meanwhile, Vegeta takes on his own Ozotto in Super Saiyan Blue, landing a series of punches and kicks that knock Ozotto to the ground. Vegeta tells him to show his true strength, but Ozotto teleports away — he reforms as Super Janenba!
Goku dodges all of Ozotto’s attacks, but Ozotto reshapes himself into Tullece as he continues firing blasts. Ozotto jumps backward and phases into Bojack, then again into Metal Coola. The two land punches directly into each other’s fists; Goku remarks that this guy just keeps changing forms. Ozotto changes back to his normal form, and says that Goku’s strength has increased greatly; now it’s time to eat! Goku snaps back, but Ozotto says this fate awaits everyone here — after all, Piccolo and Gohan have already been eaten, and this same fate awaits Vegeta as well as the Time Patrol versions of them that also came along. Goku thinks Ozotto is underestimating them all, but especially Vegeta. Someone like Ozotto who only gets stronger by eating others doesn’t stand a chance against them.
The Janenba clone of Ozotto delivers a teleport-hand-blast to Vegeta, knocking him down. He prepares a full series of portals and punches which seems to take Vegeta out, leading Ozotto to walk away in preparation for the others, thinking that perhaps he overestimated these Saiyans and their power. Should he go after Goku next? Vegeta is back on his feet at this statement, saying there is no way someone like him could defeat Kakarrot. Vegeta powers up into Blue again at this mockery, unleashing an assault on Ozotto (still as Janenba) that concludes with a Final Flash. Vegeta emerges from the smoke saying that Kakarrot won’t lose until he defeats him!
Gohan wakes up, trapped in a sort of cocoon-like structure, as Ozotto walks up to him. Goten and Trunks are also trapped alongside him. Ozotto says that this place is inside his body!
Episode Notes
Manga vs. Anime Differences
-
Though the rough underlying story beats are largely the same between the two media, the Meteor Mission! manga series by Yoshitaka Nagayama includes a wealth of additional details and character appearances beyond what is seen here in the promotional anime. Of note, we see more of the various battles along the way, still all leading up to Gohan waking up inside Ozotto. These battles include: Trunks vs. Slug; Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta: Xeno vs. Tullece and his henchmen; a prolonged battle with Super Saiyan 4 Goku: Xeno vs. Bojack (as opposed to the Super-timeline version of Goku); the other Goku in Ultra Instinct -Sign- instead fighting Paikuhan, Yamcha, Kuririn, and No. 17; and Vegeta still against Janenba.
Episode Credits
All credits listed below are as originally presented in the promotional episode. Unlike all prior episodes of the promotional anime, this “Meteor Mission” run of episodes does not include any animation credits; instead, general credits are featured during the opening animation (primarily those of Bandai staff), while the end credits exclusively feature voice credits.
