With 52 days remaining until the film’s debut, the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” showcases Bulma inviting Vegeta to contribute his thoughts on getting stronger alongside Goku, not to mention having to do battle with Freeza again:

Bulma: Hey! Bulma here!
Just 52 days left until the movie’s premiere!
Today my husband Vegeta swung by!

Vegeta: ……………

Bulma: What’s the matter, Vegeta? Don’t stand way over there! I’m here, so what are you so nervous about?

Vegeta: Sh-Shut up!!

Bulma: Look, just talk about the movie! Freeza’s being resurrected, after all!

Vegeta: Hmph, Freeza? What could he possibly do if he were to come back now? My goal is Kakarrot, only Kakarrot! Nobody else matters.

Bulma: Yeah yeah, this guy never changes! He’s always training! I guess lately he’s been training with Son-kun over at Beerus’ attendant Whis’ place… geez, what’s the matter with Saiyans?! But it looks like Freeza’s getting even stronger too, so you and Son-kun better go give him a good thrashing!

Vegeta: I refuse to team up with Kakarrot. No matter how strong Freeza may become, I’m more than enough to handle the likes of him! The heck with 52 days, get over here right now!

The story for Revival of “F”, opening nationwide in Japan 18 April 2015 in 2D and IMAX 3D, is being crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he is writing it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it will, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, will serve as the film’s director and animation supervisor. Norihito Sumitomo will return from Battle of Gods and the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai for musical composition duties. Momoiro Clover Z will contribute a song alongside Maximum the Hormone, whose “F” will be used as a “battle song” during the film. The North American official PlayStation Blog has announced a celebratory birthday sale for the PlayStation Vita. Of particular note for Dragon Ball fans, last year’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is available for $12.00, or $7.50 with a PlayStation Plus membership.

Battle of Z was released digital-only for the Vita in most international territories, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions received both physical and digital releases. A physical Vita release was produced in Japan.

The Vita game was a part of several promotions over the course of last year, including April’s “Golden Week Sale” and August’s “Anime Sale”.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, developed by Artdink for Bandai Namco, was released worldwide in January 2014 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Vita.

With 53 days remaining until the film’s debut, the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” has been updated with a new comment from none other than Freeza himself, Ryūsei Nakao! Even Bulma seems a bit shaken when she introduces him:

Hey! Bulma here!
Just 53 days left until the movie’s premiere!
T-Today we’ve got…why, it’s a comment from the voice of Freeza, Ryūsei Nakao!

Nakao: I was incredibly happy when I heard that I was coming back as Freeza for this movie. I didn’t get the chance to participate last time, so when against all odds it turned out I’d get to come back to life one more time, I went “yippy!” (laughs)

I was already looking forward to the story since I knew sensei was writing it himself, but it was still really fun to see just how Freeza gets resurrected. That the character of Freeza has survived for so long thanks to everyone’s support makes me happy in the extreme.

Even though it’s a series from 25 years ago, after all this time I’m still fortunate enough to play Freeza in some form or another every year, which made me feel that it wasn’t quite over yet. I’m incredibly grateful that people think that “Freeza=Ryūsei Nakao”. There aren’t too many series or characters out there that get people saying things like that about us, so they’re our greatest joy.

It’s a very important series for me, since thanks to it I’ve got my current position where people go “if it’s a bad guy, have Ryūsei Nakao voice him!”

I think he’s a character who’s been nurtured by the fans.

All you Freeza fans, please watch until the very end!

If you watch until the end, then maybe once more…

Earlier today the official website for the upcoming film, Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”, was updated with two new sections: Character and Cast/Staff. While the staff and cast page did not provide any new details beyond what has already been announced, the character page did provide fourteen new character profiles for the film’s hero characters. However, thanks to a little sleuthing by members of our forum, a few additional not-yet-linked-to villain character profiles have been discovered.

FREEZA (Ryūsei Nakao)
Once an evil emperor in space with no limit to his aggression, and the one behind the destruction of the Saiyan’s planet. He is a shape-shifting alien who possesses four forms, powering up each time he transforms.

On Planet Namek, he has a life-and-death battle against Goku & co., but he loses against the Super Saiyan Goku.

After that, he turns his body into a cyborg and comes to Earth, but is killed by the Trunks from the future.

This time, the survivors of Freeza’s forces succeed in bringing him back from Hell, but just what is the extent of his power, which has made a further evolution…?

SORBET (Shirō Saitō)
Rose to the top of Freeza’s army following Freeza’s death. Although his body is small, he is quite cunning. To resurrect Freeza’s army, he plots to revive Freeza with Earth’s Dragon Balls.

TAGOMA (Kazuya Nakai)
Sorbet’s bodyguard. Along with Sorbet, he comes to Earth in search of the Dragon Balls.

In addition to some minor story elements, these character profiles do finally reveal Shirō Saitō (斎藤志郎) and Kazuya Nakai (中井和哉) as the voices for Sorbet and Tagoma, respectively. While Shirō Saitō has never been involved with the Dragon Ball franchise, he does have quite a resume of characters, including Nene from Blue Dragon, Mamezō from Kekkaishi, Colonel Mokkoi from Toriko, and most recently, Dagama in One Piece. Conversely, while Kazuya Nakai did voice two minor throwaway characters early on in Dragon Ball GT, he is without a doubt most widely known as the voice of the sword-wielding Roronoa Zoro in One Piece. Some of his other notable roles include Toshirō Hijikata from Gintama and Mugen from Samurai Champloo.

The official website for the upcoming film, Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”, updated today with fourteen sets of character profiles for the hero characters.

Story-based confirmations within the profiles include tidbits such as Goku and Vegeta training under Whis, No. 18 being the one responsible for shaving Kuririn’s head as he enters the battle once again, and a reiteration of Gohan being unable to find his dōgi. Yūko Minaguchi will return as Videl (having voiced the character in the 2013 film Battle of Gods, but being unavailable for the on-going Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai). Shōko Nakagawa, a guest voice from Battle of Gods, will also return to voice the Oracle Fish.

SON GOKU (Masako Nozawa)
A Saiyan raised on Earth, who has protected Earth from numerous mighty foes. He likes fighting against strong opponents, and the stronger the opponent, the more excited he gets. After the battle with God of Destruction Beerus, he is now training under Whis in search of even greater strength.

VEGETA (Ryō Horikawa)
This prideful prince of the Saiyans. He was once a cruel warrior of evil, but through his fights with Goku & co., he has come to have a proper heart. He burns with an unyielding desire to best Goku in battle, and now is continuing his training.

SON GOHAN (Masako Nozawa)
Goku’s son, an Earthling/Saiyan hybrid. He has a quiet personality, and his dream has been to become a scholar since he was a small child, but when it comes time to fight, he wields a power even greater than that of pure Saiyans. This time, he can’t find his dōgi, so he joins the fray in his gym clothes.

PICCOLO (Toshio Furukawa)
A Namekian warrior. He was once a Great Demon King, the evil half of Earth’s God. He is also Gohan’s master, who raised him as a warrior. Together with Gohan, he perceives Freeza’s ki right away, and engages Freeza & co. in battle.

KURIRIN (Mayumi Tanaka)
The strongest Earthling warrior, who became a pupil of Kame-Sen’nin’s with Goku, and who has fought together with him in numerous life-or-death battles. Now he patrols the town as a police officer.

TENSHINHAN (Hikaru Midorikawa)
A martial artist formerly of the Crane School, who had aspired to become the world’s best hitman, but had a change of heart after meeting Goku & co. He had continued on a journey of training apart from Goku and the others, but perceiving Freeza’s massively powerful ki, he rushes to the scene.

KAME-SEN’NIN (Masaharu Satō)
A legendary martial artist who was once famous as the Muten Rōshi, and also Goku’s master. Now, he lives a quiet life at Kame House. Having stayed out of the battles for a while, this time he makes his long-awaited return and joins the fight.

BULMA (Hiromi Tsuru)
The very first of Goku’s friends, who he first met in the mountains. She is the scion of Capsule Corporation, and a genius with machines, such as developing the Dragon Radar. She catches wind of Freeza’s revival from a certain character.

VIDEL (Yūko Minaguchi)
The daughter of world champion fighter Mister Satan. She met Gohan in high school, and married him after the fight with Majin Boo. Now she is the mother of a child.

No. 18 (Miki Itō)
An Artificial Human remodeled by the genius scientist Doctor Gero with the goal of killing Goku. After the fight with Cell, she married Kuririn, and lives together with her daughter Marron at Kame House. She shaves the head of Kuririn, who is serious about his first fight in a long time.

BEERUS (Kōichi Yamadera)
The god who governs destruction, keeping the balance of the cosmos. If he should lose his temper, he will destroy the worlds and lives around him. The mightiest being, who not even Goku could beat as a Super Saiyan God. After the fight with Goku, he fell back into a long slumber, but…?

WHIS (Masakazu Morita)
A man of many mysteries, who works in tandem with Beerus. He is also Beerus’ master, the depths of whose power is unknown. After the fight between Goku and Beerus, he trains Goku and Vegeta, who seek even greater strength.

ORACLE FISH (Shōko Nakagawa)
A mysterious fish that gives prophecies. It once prophesized the appearance of a mighty foe to Beerus, which came true through the appearance of Goku as a Super Saiyan God. Has a careless personality, and will forget even its own prophecies.

PILAF, SHUU, MAI (Shigeru Chiba, Tesshō Genda, Eiko Yamada)
Minor villains who plot world domination with the Dragon Balls, but are always stopped by Goku & co. Never learning their lesson, they sought out the Dragon Balls, but they ended up getting used by Freeza’s forces…?

Hey! Bulma here!
Just 54 days left until the movie premiers!
Today we’ve got a comment in from someone synonymous with “Dragon Ball”: Masako Nozawa, voice of Son Goku and Son Gohan!

Nozawa: Based on the way “Battle of Gods” ended, I figured they were definitely going to make a sequel sooner or later, but I never thought it would be so soon.  I was happy and excited when I heard they were doing another movie. And since the screenplay this time was written by Toriyama-sensei from the ground up, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on the script. I had some ideas about how things might unfold with Goku, so as I read the script I was constantly going “wow, didn’t see that coming!”; it was a constant flow of my expectations getting overturned. “That’s sensei for you” I thought. This movie is great. I got excited just reading the script, so all the people watching it with the voices and pictures all together ought to enjoy it many times as much.

Ryusei Nakao (the voice of Freeza) has been performing major roles since he was little, so we understand each other, and this makes it easy for us to perform together. Since we click right from the first dialogue, we each know what the other is going to do next. I’m sure Ryusei-kun feels the same way. It’s really great to be working with him again.

This film has so many highlights that I can’t mention them all here, but I can tell you that the entire thing is super entertaining. And the battles are incredible, just like always! I think they’ll turn out with a bit of a different feel to them than the ones in the past.

I’m sure everyone’s curious about Freeza’s presence in the film. It’d spoil things if I said here how things pan out for him in the movie, so you’ll just have to look forward to it.

OK then! Get excited, and get yourself to the theater!
As always, I hope every single person in the entire world sees this.

Goku: I grew so much this time around. Definitely check it out!

Today’s 2015 #13 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan notes (as the only bit of news for Revival of “F” within the issue) that Freeza’s new “evolution” will be revealed in two weeks within the 2015 #15 issue of the magazine:

WJ15号でフリーザの新たな進化が明らかに…!?

In Weekly Jump issue #15, Freeza’s new evolution will be revealed…!?

Though we have been teased several times with regard to what Freeza’s new “evolution” may be (specifically with the line, “Allow me to show you… my further evolution!” in the first full-length trailer), as it currently stands we still have no real information on what it may turn out to be!

With the exception of shifted schedules due to holidays and the like, Weekly Shōnen Jump is released each Monday in Japan.

Bulma:
Hi there! Bulma here!
There are now 55 days until opening!
Today, Son-kun’s son, Gohan-kun, is here.

Gohan:
Hi, everyone! I’m Son Go—

Bulma:
Hold on a minute, Gohan-kun. What’s with that getup?

Gohan:
Well, when I heard that Freeza was back, I looked for my dōgi in a panic, but I couldn’t find it… all I had was this tracksuit.

Bulma:
Geez~ keep it together, will you?
That relaxed attitude of yours is just like your father’s!

Gohan:
Sorry… but Bulma, we’re in serious trouble!

Bulma:
That’s right! It’s a crisis for the Earth, so do your best and fight, Gohan-kun!

Gohan:
Let’s see… I think I can still become a Super Saiyan…
This time, everyone will have to to turn out in full-force if we want to win against Freeza’s 1000-strong army!
There are 55 days left, so I’ve got to do some serious training!

Fans continue to question Gohan’s ability to and actual showcase of transforming into a Super Saiyan based on the events within the manga leading up to this timeframe. In the 2013 film Battle of Gods, early promotional materials showcased him transforming into a Super Saiyan mid-battle, whereas the final film did away with these effects (though Gohan did transform during the Super Saiyan God ritual). It is unknown whether fan comments toward production staff swayed these decisions, and it remains to be seen what happens in Revival of “F” with regard to Gohan and these transformations.

Norihito Sumitomo came on as a new composer for the Dragon Ball franchise with the 2013 theatrical film, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. In addition to being the second new composer for Dragon Ball Kai (scoring the Majin Boo arc, which is currently airing in Japan and certain international markets), Sumitomo will return to his duties for the upcoming new film, Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”.

A staff member named “Hikari” recently wrote a blog post discussing Sumitomo’s and the team’s work composing for the film:

He began composing the songs after reading the script in December of last year, at a rate of five pieces a day.

With a film, the music requests come in chronological order, so he starts writing from M1.

The turbulent M2 has about 5 variations.

Sumitomo says it’s precisely these kinds of pieces which must be written in order from the start.

If you can write the cool pieces right at the start, then the rest is just a matter of adding on.

Hello, it’s the staff here.
Today marks 56 days left until the premiere!

An event was held today to celebrate the upcoming premiere of Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”, as well as the DVD and Blu-ray release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods – Special Edition!

First onstage were Masako Nozawa (voice of Son Goku, Gohan, and Goten), someone in a Goku costume, and special guest Risa Yoshiki, who’s a big Dragon Ball fan.

Yoshiki wore an adorable Bulma-esque pink mini-one piece, and even Nozawa was impressed.

After discussing Battle of Gods for a bit, Ryūsei Nakao (voice of Freeza) and someone in a Freeza costume turned up and things really kicked off!

The “special edition” of Battle of Gods will be released to Blu-ray and DVD in Japan 12 March 2015. Its release in Japan comes later than for the English-speaking market, where it went on sale in North America and the U.K. last year through FUNimation.
