Episode Summary

Sorbet greets the now fully revived Freeza, who vaguely remembers him. He is amused to hear that in his absence Sorbet has taken his place as leader, and assumes Sorbet has only now gotten around to reviving him because Sorbet has not been managing things well on his own. He asks whether his father was also revived, but is not too concerned to hear that the answer is “no”. Frankly, Freeza feels they might as well just leave him dead. Instead, now that he’s back to life, his first plan of business is to get revenge on those Saiyans. Sorbet and the others are horrified, and Tagoma suggests that it would be better to simply ignore the Saiyans on Earth. For this remark, Freeza tortures Tagoma with a series of energy blasts, and complains about how weak his army has grown in his absence.

Sorbet tries to explain that since Freeza’s death Goku has continued to grow stronger, to the point where he even defeated Majin Boo. Freeza is intrigued, since his father had always warned him never to tangle with Majin Boo or Beerus, but undeterred. After all, he is a natural prodigy who reached his current level of strength without even needing to train. So Freeza assumes that if he trains hard to unlock his full potential, he can easily surpass Goku within just four months.

Over at Beerus’ planet, Goku and Vegeta spar against each other under Whis’ supervision. Whis instructs them to raise their ki only inside their bodies and not let any leak outside, which will prevent their opponent from noticing their ki. The two continue to spar, and when their fists meet, the resulting clash of power surprises them both. Whis thinks to himself how impressive it is for the two of them to have come so far in such a short amount of time. It is clear why Beerus considered them exceptional.

At that moment, Beerus himself wanders up, the fighting having woken him. He sneezes, destroying a planet, but Whis oddly notes that there’s no reason to “fix” it. Seeing Goku and Vegeta’s training, Beerus wonders how they got here. Goku explains that Whis brought them over in exchange for food… though sadly, this time Whis accidentally dropped the food on the way over, so there is none left. Beerus wonders why the two of them are so fixated on getting stronger. Do they want to become the next God of Destruction? They deny this, with Vegeta saying he simply does not want Goku to get a head start on him… and Goku in turn complaining that Vegeta was the one to get a head start on him. Beerus notes that earlier they mentioned their food and training “this time”. So how many times have they come over to train… and how many times has Whis been eating without him while he has been asleep? Whis whistles innocently, and claims he has simply been sampling Earth food for Beerus ahead of time, to confirm that none of it is poisonous.

Four months later, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman arrives on Earth in his small spaceship. Landing at Capsule Corporation, he is spotted by Goten and Trunks. Confirming that this is indeed Bulma’s house, Jaco is surprised to learn Trunks is Bulma’s son. Goten and Trunks laugh at the funny tights Jaco is wearing, but he explains that he’s not wearing any, it is simply what his naked skin looks like. Next they laugh at the weird mask he has on, but he explains it is simply his face. They assume he is a grade-schooler, but with increasing indignation he explains that he is an adult. They pull off what they think is his ear, but it is simply his ear-mounted communicator.

Finally, they go get Bulma, telling her that “Zako” has come to see her. Jaco has heard Bulma is friends with the man who defeated Freeza, and wants to meet him. Bulma says that technically there are two people who defeated Freeza, one of whom was her son. Jaco looks over at Trunks (currently goofing around inside Jaco’s ship with Goten) and is amazed that a little kid like that could have beat Freeza, but Bulma explains that it was actually a grown-up version of her son who came from the future. This appalls Jaco, since time travel is strictly prohibited under galactic law. Still, Jaco is impressed that an Earthling could have defeated Freeza… but Jaco is shocked to learn Trunks and Goten are both half-Saiyans, and that Bulma’s husband is a Saiyan. He suddenly starts acting very polite toward Goten and Trunks, as they continue to mess around in his ship.

Asking about the other person who beat Freeza, Jaco learns that Goku is still off training on God of Destruction Beerus’ planet. Jaco has trouble believing this; Beerus is just a myth. Still, he gets to the main point of why he has come: Freeza has returned to life, and is currently heading to Earth with 1,000 soldiers. Meanwhile, Goten and Trunks have shut the spaceship hatch (missing the news about Freeza) and quickly crash the ship into the nearby pond. Bulma angrily sends Trunks to his room. She brings out a sundae and (speaking into the air) tries to tempt Whis with it, but she receives no word from him. Jaco notes that Freeza will be there within the hour, and Bulma runs off to inform everyone.

At the police station, Kuririn receives Bulma’s phone call. Returning home, he puts on his old Turtle School dōgi and asks No. 18 to shave his head. While she wants to join the fight, he asks her to stay home and protect Marron. Goku and Vegeta may be over at Beerus’ place, but at least they’ve still got Gohan and Boo, so things should be fine. He takes off (asking No. 18 to get dinner ready while he’s gone), and No. 18 admires him as he flies away. Kuririn picks up Kame-Sen’nin and meets up with Tenshinhan, Gohan, and Piccolo in midair. Suddenly they sense a terrible ki — Freeza’s ship is approaching Earth! Onboard, Freeza’s men inform him that they are only able to locate Goku, but not the other Saiyan who defeated him. Sorbet also warns that even if Freeza successfully kills Goku, he is sure to be resurrected with the Dragon Balls, but Freeza seems to have a plan for that. He gloats that it’s time for him to begin his revenge.
