“Shueisha Jump Remix” (SJR) is a convenience-store exclusive comics line published by Shueisha, the company that originally published Dragon Ball. Most comics published in this line have been previously published as ordinary tankōbon for sale in bookstores, but are here given a more economical, omnibus-style treatment in a larger size and greater page-count, albeit with lower paper-quality. Also, unlike a normal tankōbon volume, “Shueisha Jump Remix” releases are treated as a kind of special magazine (or “mook”), with a relatively short shelf-life and few, if any, reprints.
In addition to the releases mentioned below, Akira Toriyama’s three “______piece Theatre” one-shot volumes were also released in this line. However, apart from the addition of the first Neko Majin Z chapter and some background information about the beginnings of Dragon Ball itself, these are not strictly Dragon Ball releases.
Film Animation Comics
Three months after the final Kanzenban volumes of the Dragon Ball manga were released in 2004, Shueisha began re-releasing the Dragon Ball “Film Animation Comics” as part of the “Shueisha Jump Remix” line. As done with these types of releases, each volume contained two films or TV specials, cutting the original 20 volumes of comics down to 10. These two-in-one volumes are printed on lower-quality paper, allowing them to be sold at a much lower price-point. However, these reprints omitted almost all of the extra supplemental material available in the originals. Some of the original posters were reprinted, although simply on one of the pages rather than as a larger fold-out poster. These volumes were released out-of-sequence with respect to the movies and specials, instead being in roughly the same order as the original “Film Animation Comics” tankōbon, and the list below reflects that.
In 2009, these two-in-one volumes were re-released with revised covers to commemorate the start of Dragon Ball Kai. Only the covers were altered; their contents remain the same. This re-release was done in the same order as the initial “Shueisha Jump Remix” release over the course of 2004 and 2005. Later in mid-2014, the “Battle of Gods” film comic was re-released under the “Shueisha Jump Remix” line of titles. To commemorate this addition, two previous issues were once again re-released.

TV Animation Comics
In late 2009, Shueisha began re-releasing the Dragon Ball Z TV animation Comics in the Shueisha Jump Remix line. Once again, each volume contained more chapters than the original release, and had a lower price-point. As a side-effect of this format, the first chapter of the “Super Saiyan — Ginyu Special-Squad” arc in the “TV Animation Comics” tankōbon was re-designated as the final chapter of the “Saiyan Invasion” arc in the Jump Remix release, causing all chapters of the subsequent “Struggle for the Namekian Dragon Balls” arc (its “Jump Remix” equivalent) to be renumbered. Production of these re-prints was halted when the series reached the end of Goku’s battle with Freeza.
Interestingly, the re-printed TV animation comics were sold with the tag line, “Read Z and enjoy Kai”, one of many instances where an existing Dragon Ball Z-branded product, rather than an entirely new item, was used to promote Dragon Ball Kai. Such practices have been criticized as part of the reason Dragon Ball Kai failed to drive an increase in merchandise sales.
